FLORAL PILLOW SUPPORT Filed Feb. 11, 1929 3 Sheets-Sheet 3 INVENTOR g 10 ay @a msswxh W Patented Dec. 3, 1929 STEPI-IEN SHUKO, OF BOSTON, MASSACI-IUSETTS FLORALPILLOVJ surronr Application filed February 11, 1929. Serial No. 339,132;
This invention relates to a floral pillow support, the general Object of the invention being' to provide a foldable support which, when set up, will support a floral pillow which may be formed on the support or suitably attached thereto and with means whereby the support can be folded so that it will occupy but little space when in use and can be easily handled.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and speciically pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several Views, and in which 1- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device in operative position.
Figure 2 is a side View of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a fragmentary view with parts broken away, showing how the forwardly eXtending brace member engages the front supporting yoke.
Figure 4 is a view showing the device in folded position.
Figure 5 is a section on line 5-5 of F igure 4.
Figure 6 is a detail view with parts broken away, showing how the rearwardly extending brace member engages the rear yoke when the parts are in the position shown in Figures 4 and 5. i
Figure 7 is a rear view showing the device in a folded position, with the rear yoke folded upon the frame.
Figure 8 is a perspective view showing how the rear brace engages the rear yoke when the parts are in unfolded position.
Figure 9 is a Similar View showing how the rear yoke is moved between the limbs of the rearwardly extending brace when the parts are to be folded into the position shown in Figure 7.
In` these views, the numeral 1 indicates a substantially rectangular frame formed of wire or the like with its side and end pieces bent inwardly into arc shape. A Wire 2 eX- tendsthrough the center of the frame with its ends wrapped around the end pieces of the frame and a rod or wre 3 is placed at r1ghtangles to the frame 2 and has its ends bent around the side pieces of the frame. Other wires or rods 4: extend from one end piece to the other of the frame on each side of the member 2, with their ends bent around the end pieces of the frame, and these wires are attached to \the member 3 by the wire 5, as clearly" shown in Figure l. A front yoke member G has the extremities of its liinbs bent around the bottom side piece of the frame, the bight of the member forming an engaging element for a surface upon which the device is placed. A rear yoke 7 has the cxtremities of its limbs bent around the upper or rear cross piece of the frame with its bight adapted to engage the surface upon which the device is placed so that the two yokes act as legs for the frame. `Each yoke member has each limb thereof bent inwardly and outwardly adjacent its junction with the bight so as to form the loop 8 and the keeper recess 9. v t
A rearwardly extending brace member 10 of yoke shape has the extremities of its limbs bent around the front or lower side piece of the \frame and a forwardly extending brace member 11, also of yeke shape, has the extremities of its limbs bent around the upper or rear side piece of the frame. Each of these brace members is-formed with the loops 12 at the junction of its limbs with its bight, these loops slidingly engaging the front and rear members 6 and 7 and when these loop portions engage the keeper recesses 9, the parts are held in a position with the front and rear yoke in a vertical position so that the frame is supported in an inclined position as the front yoke is much shorter th an the rear yoke. This position is shown in Figures 1 and 2.* Thus .a floral pillow or other floral design can be readily placed on the inclined-frame, the design being suitably connected with the frame or it may be formed by placing the flowers 111 thespaces formed by the frame and the wires thereof. i i i `When the device is not in'use, theforward- .ly and rearwardly extending brace members have their loop portions forced out of the kee er recesses and the parts are then moved to t e position shown in Figures 4; and 5 so that the device will be flat, with the front yoke extending forwardly of the frame and the rear yoke extending rearwardly of the frame; In this position, the devicewill oc- (cilp butlittle space and can bereadily-handesired, the limbsof-the rear-yokeare pressed toward each other so that they will 'pass between the limbs of the rearwardly ex tending brace, as shown *in Figure 9, so that the rear yoke can be folded against the rear part of the frame, with the front yoke extendng' forwardly, as before. This positionof the parts is'shown* in Figure '7, .and as' will be seen, when'the device is folded, as shown" in Figure?, it will occupy less space'than when the device is'folded, as shown in Figures andi It: is'thou'ght from thexfregoing descripti'onthat the advantages and novel features of the invention-will' be readily apparent.
- It isto be understood that changes may be "made-in* the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changesfall within the scopeof theappended claims What I 'cIaimist-r 1.
