Description

E. H. Mmmm., ODOR-CONDUCTOR FOR COOKING-STOVES.
Patented Feb.1'5,1s7s.
w. vof n e m UNITED STATES EVERETT H. HENDRICK,
PATENT EEICEa oF CHICAGO, ILLINois.' l
IMPROVEMENT IN ODOR-CONDUCTORS FOR COOKING-STOVES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 173,628, dated February 15, 1876; application filed Y November27, 1875.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, EVERETT H. HENDRIGK,
yof the city of Chicago, in the county of Cook cesses of cooking, as well as steam generatedA in boiling clothes, or escaping from ,boiling meats or vegetables, and by suitable conduits convey them directly to the chimney, to be discharged into the open air with the products of combustion. i
For conveying a proper understanding of the construction and mode of operation of myk invention I will refer to Figure 1,which. shows l v my vdevice ready for use.
A shows the stovefpipe leading to the chimney; at the part P it is shown as perforated in its whole circumference by draftholes. Ont-side of this pipe is shown the sleeve B, which, when properly adjusted, encircles the stove-'pipe and covers the draftholes; To this encircling sleeve are attached the pipes E and elbow F. To these may be attached, as occasion requires, the funnel or other shaped collectors G1 land H, adapt-ed to the different forms of cooking utensils in use. The pipes and elbows may be shortened or extended by' sliding joints, so as to come down as close to the cooking utensils as may be desired, so that the odors may readily rise up and pass through into the main stove-pipe and to the chimney, as before described.
It will be plainly understood that as the encircling sleeve can be revolved quite around the main pipe it will bring the dierent conductors over such utensils as desired, and that the perforated pipe will in every position allow a free passage through to the inside and to the chimney.
I claim as my invention- The combination and arrangement of the perforated stove-pipe A with the revolving 'sleeve B, carrying the pipe E and thevelbow F, and the funnel or other shaped collectors G and H, substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth and described.
