' 'Now havingv particular reference to the drawings, my novel switch consists of a suitable casing 5 of fibre or other non-conducting material. Secured within an opening substantially centrally of the front wall of the casingfi is a sleeve 6-, whilerotat'able therethrough is a hollow stem7, the outer endof which isformed or equipped with a turning key 8. Secured at its center to the inner end of thisste1n7 is a fibre disc of suitable nonconducting material 9, the face adjacent th front wall of the casing 5 having printed or otherwise marked thereon at the perimeter of the dial reference characters beginning at the numeral one as disclosed in Figure 5. The numerals on the dial correspond in number to similarly indicated annunciators located at a remote point from the switch, which annunicators are as disclosed in Figure 2 small electric bulbs A arranged upon a board B; Obviously however the switch may be employed in conjunction with annunciators f the sounding variety ifidesired.
Arranged concentrically upon the inner face of the dial 9 is an electric conductor ring 10, while surrounding and concentricto the dial 9 is a multiplecontact supporting, ring 11 of fibre or othernon-conducting,material, this ring 11 being suitably connected to and in spaced relation with the front wallof the casing as clearly indicated in Figure 4. Pivoted to a bracket 12 secured to the inner face of the ring 11 is an inwardly extending conductor arm 13 the lower end of which has wiping engagement with the edge of the dial carrying conductor ring 10, see Figures 3 and. 4. Between the upper end ofthe arm 13 and ring 11- is an expansible coil spring 14 for the purpose of maintaining the lower end of the arm in permanent engagement with said dial conductor ring 10.
Extending radially through the ring 11 at predetermined spaced points are conductor wires 15, while embedded within vthe inner edge of the ring 11 are Contact members 16 electrically connected to said conductor wires as disclosed in Figure. 61 These contact members each include a pair of elongated spaced spring fingers 1717, the ends of which are bent outwardly, while one of the fingers is formed intermediate its ends with an outwardly bent portion to provide a depression 18 at the inner face thereof, said bent ends and depressions being provided for a purpose hereinafter more fully described.
Arranged radially within the dial 9 and projecting from the periphery thereof is a conductor pin 19 that is electricallyconnected by a wire 20 to a spring metal arm 21 secured at one end to the inner face of the dial 9and having spaced relation at its opposite end with said dial, this spaced end being arranged at the direct center of the dial and disclosed in Figures 3 and 4:.
Slidable through the dial turning stem 7 is a pin 22, the inner end of which projects through the stem 7 and that is headed at said inner end as at 23. The outer end of this pin 22 extends beyond the stem key 8 and is provided with a thumb button 2 1, while surrounding the stem between the button and said key 8 is an expansible coil spring 25.
Suitably pivotally attached to the face of the dial 9 equipped with the conductor ring 10 is a fiber plate 26 that is equipped directly adjacent the headed end 23 of the pin 22 with conductor rivets 27 electrically connected to the dial conductor ring 10 through the me dium of a wire 28 that may be and preferably is the media of pivotal attachment of the fiber plate 26 to said dial, see Figure 3. The plate 26 is maintained in position toward the dial 9 so that the rivet 27 will have engagement with the inner end of the push pin 22, and be maintained out of engagement with the conductor member 21 and this through the medium of a suitable spring 29 arranged between the conductor ring 10 and said fiber plate v26.
The front wall of the casing 5 is provided at a point above the stem key 8 with an opening 30 so that the numerals upon the dial 9 will be visible therethrough. Obviously the turning of the key 8 will turn the dial 9 so that the conductor pin 19 of the dial may be forced into position between the proper conductor fingers 17 17 as indicated in Figure 7. Obviously the outwardly bent ends of these fingers will assist in guiding the pin 18 therebetween whereas the depression 18 formed intermediate the ends of one of the fingers will act as a means for locking the conductor pin 19 beneath said fingers.
In actual practice the conductor wires of the stationary ring 11 of the switch structure are electrically connected to the bulbs A of the annunciator as disclosed in Figure 8. These bulbs are also electrically connected to the input or output of a storage battery or other source of electric current designated C in Figure 8. The pivotal arm 13 of the switch is electrically connected to the opposite flow of the circuit as disclosed in the same figure. As soon as the conductor pin 19 of the dial 9 has been engaged between a predetermined pair of the fingers 17-17, the pin button 24 is forced inwardly so as to cause the plate rivet 27 to engage the spring conductor arm 21, whereupon the circuit is completed through the spring arm to the pin l9-through the corresponding conductor wire 15 of its fingers 17-17 to the proper electric light through the source of current C back to the pivotal arm 13 of the switch structure through the conductor ring 10, thence to the rivet 27 that has engagement with said spring conductor arm 21 as previously described. A release of the spring 22 will break the circuit due to the spring 25 disclosed in Figure 4.
In view of the foregoing description when considered in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, it will be apparent that I have provided a highly novel, simple and extremely efficient multiple annunciator con trol switch that is well adapted for all the purposes heretofore designated, even though I have herein shown and described the invention as consisting of certain detail structural elements it is nevertheless to be understood that some changes may be made therein Without departing from the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In an electric switch of the character described, a support, a dial mounted for rotation on said support, means at one side of the support whereby said dial may be rotated, a plurality of stationary contacts arranged around said dial, and a conductor ring arranged upon said dial, a stationary member arranged on the support and having wiping engagement with said conductor, a conductor pin carried by and projecting from said dial and adapted for engagement with said stationary contacts, and means operable for electrically connecting said pin with said conductor ring.

In an electric switch of the character described, a support, a dial mounted for rotation on said support, means at one side of the casing whereby said dial may be rotated, a plurality of stationary contacts arranged around said dial, and a conductor ring arranged upon said dial, a stationary member arranged on the support and having wiping engagement with said conductor, a conductor pin carried by and projecting from said dial and adapted for engagement with said stationary contacts, means operable on the support for electrically connecting said pin with said conductor ring, said means consisting of a plate equipped with a contact member pivoted to the dial, said contact being electrically connected to the conductor ring, and an arm attached to said dial and having spaced relation at one end with respect to said dial and being, electrically connected to said conductor pin, and a manually operable plunger movable through the support and through said dial for swinging the plate toward the arm whereby the contact will engage said arm. 7
