Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 173,040, dated February 1, 1876; application filed August 11, 1875.
To all ywhom -it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ALEXANDER H. Moon, of New York city, county and State of New York, have invented certain lmprovements Vin 'Awnings for Bird-Oages,v'of which the following is a specification:
The object of my invention is to provide bird-cages with awnings, which are so constructed that they readily may be placed on and fastened to the bird-cage, and can, with the same facility, be removed for cleaning or repairs.
Birds in cages hanging in the free air are exposed to the sun and rain, and the more delicate domesticated birds-such as the canary-birds suffer from being thus exposed.
VThe use of 1n y improved awning or top-cover of the frame are fastened spiral springs with hooks on their ends, by aid of which the frame is held to the cage, the spiral springs giving the required elasticity, in order to readily place i and replace the hooks. `The Whole frame is covered with suitable awning fabrics or any water-proof material.
The top and the lower edge of the awning maybe ornamented with fringes.
