This invention relates to improvements in hose protector and cover for chair seats, and hasespecial reference to combined hose protectoi's and covers for chair seats to be used by the ladies. Since it is now the custom of the ladies to wear short skirts and silk hose, it is Very essential that the parts of the chair which will naturally come in contact with the silk hose be properly covered to prevent snag- 1 ging of the same.

The object of this invention is to provide a seat cover having a continuous pocket which extends across the front and down the side edges of the chair seat a distance suflicient to properly cover all portions of' said seat with which the hose might naturally come in contact. It has been noted that the lower portion of the outer edge of chair seats ofttimes are rough and have splinters extending therefrom, and it is niainly for the purpose of covering this portion of the chair seat that the present invention is designed.

A further object of this invention is the contemplation of a seat cover which is secure- 1y held in operative position by means of fastening strips, or tapes, attached to one edge of said cover.

Further objects of this invention are neatness of appearance, ease of application, and

adaptability to chairs of different sizes and shapes.

With these general objects in view, as well as minor objects, which will appear during the course of the detailed specification, the 5 invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing, wherein Figure 1, is a perspective view of the under side of a hose protector and cover for chair seats embodying this invention.

Fig. 3, is a cross-sectional View of the same in operative position on a chair seat.

Fig. 4, is a perspective view of a modified form of cover, adapted especially for use on a swivel type chair.

made of some suitable fabric, such as wool felt, and the like. Body portion 10 is made to conform to the shape of the chair seat, and to be placed on the upper surface thereof. The forward and adjacent side edges of said body member are provided with a continuous pocket 11. Said pocket is preferably made in box form,with a Vertically extending wall 12, integral with the body member 10, and having an inwardly extending flange 13, which extends beneath the under surface of the seat when the cover is in operative position. The flange 13 is provided with a front flap 14, and side flaps 15, which are spaced apart from the corners of said flange, thus forming recesses 16 in which the front legs L of the chair C, are positioned when the ordinary legged chair is used. The adjacent corners of the flaps 14 and 15 are provided with tapes 17, respectively, by means of which the corners of said flaps are secured together, thereby maintaining them against the under side of said seat, about the front chair legs. The rear ,portion of the body member 10 is attached to the standard of the chair back by means of two sets of tapes 18, which are securely at= tached to 10 in any suitable manner.

The modified form, as shown in Fig. 4, is adaptable for use on swivel chairs having no corner legs, when the recesses 16 are not necessary. 10 is the body member having downwardly extending front and side wall 12, and the inturned flange member 13, which form a continuous pocket 11. The tying tapes 18', similar to those on the preferred form, are secured to the body portion 10, but in this form the tying tapes 17 are not necessary, and therefore, are omitted.

While the cover shown is adapted for chairs of substantially rectangular shape, however, it is apparent that without altering the main features of this invention, the cover could be made to fit substantially any of .the. well known chair seat shapes. As clearly shown and described, the present cover completely covers all portions of said seat which might naturally come in contact with the hose of one occupying the chair, thereby eliminating all chances of snagging of the hose, due to the roughness of the chair seat construction.

We do not limit this invention to the structure shown and described, as many modifications may be made within the scope of the appended claims without departing from the spirit thereof.

What is claimed as new and desired to be secured by Letters Patent is:

1. A hose protector and cover for chair seats comprising a body member, a continuous pocket formed along one side and along the opposite adjacent sides of said body member, said pocket having an inturned member adapted to extend beneath the chair bottom, inwardly extending flaps carried by said inturned member and spaced apart at their adjacent ends to receive the chair legs, means for securing together adjacent corners of said flaps and means carried by said body member opposite said pocket to secure said cover in position on said chair seat.

2. A hose protector and cover for chair seats comprising a body member, a continuous pocket formed along one side and along the opposite adjacent sides of said body mem ber, said pocket having an inturned member adapted to extend beneath the chair bottom, inwardly extending flaps carried by said inturned member and spaced apart at their adjacent ends to receive the chair legs, and means for securing together adjacent corners of said flaps. v
