This invention relates to improvements in display devices and has reference more par-l ticularly to an improved bracket which can be employed tor the display of automobile accessories.

lt is customary to provide the trade with radiator hose in lengths of about three feet., from which the dealer may cut a length. suitable for the particular car lor which the connection is to be used. is there are several different types of automobiles and many of them require radiator hose connectors oit different diameter, it is necessary for the dealer to carry an assortment ot radiator hose.

For the purpose of supporting these lengths of radiator hose in a convenient way and so that the stock on hand can be readily determined by an. inspection, Il have produced a display device comprising a bracket consisting ot' two separable parts, one oi' which is a base, which is adapted to be secured to a wall or other supporting mein ber and whose rear surface is provided with.

a depressed area having an opening, other part consisting of a substantially straight supporting arm of such size that it can be passed through the opening and whose rear end is slightly enlarged and, bent at 'i0 right angles so as to lie in the depressed area between the base and the supporting surface. This supporting arm may be provided with holes trom which are supported rods that are provided at their ends with hooks, these rods are slightly longer than the radiator hose and are inserted through the latter, the. hose being supported by the hook at the lower end of the rod. Brackets of this type can be taken apart and packed into a small o space for shipment and can be readily es sembled and applied to the supporting snrn face without the use ott' any special tools.

ln order to more clearly describe the in* vention so that its construction and mode of operation can be more readily lunderstood, reference will now be had to the accom panying drawing, in which the preferred embodiment thereof has been illustrated, and in which:

ln the drawing numeral 1 represents a base plate which is formed from sheet metal and which has been shown as having its upper and lower edge parallel, the lower edge being shorter than the other and the sides ot the plate being formed by angiil larly related lines so that4 the upper half of the plate is rectangular and the lower halt p ot the plate beiner a trapezoid. The edges of the plate which have been indicated by numeral 2 are curved rearwardly in the manner shown in F 3 and 5, so that they lie in a plane parallel with but spaced from the rear surface of the plate. This tends to strengthen the plate and to make it tit more readily against the su porting surface which has been designate by numeral 3. The rear surface of the plate is provided with a depression Il, which is substantiallyr rectangular and which is provided at one side with an opening 5. In the example shown this opening is located on the median line of the base plate near the lower end ci the depressed area which, as shown in Fig. 2, is located on one side of the median line. The base plate is also provided with twoopenings which have been designated by ret erence numeral 6 and which are located equal distances from the median line near the upper end. olf the plate. The outer edges of these openings are pressed outwardly in the manner indicated by numeral 7, bso as to make it more convenient to insert a paper tag 8 in the manner shown in Fig. 5. These paper tags may contain the size or any other information relating; to the object displayed. 'lhe other part of the bracket consists of a supporting arm 9 which is formed from sheet metal of slightly greater thickness than that employed for the base and whose outer 100 the supporting arm a rectangular portion which has been designated as a whole by reference numeral l2 and which is bent at right angles to the piane of the arm 9 in the manner shown quite clearly in lligs. 3 and 4: When the arm is inserted through the opening 5, from the back of the plate', the enlarged portion l2 will tit the depressed area. rJlhe depression has such a dept-h compared to the thickness of the `material of the part l2 and the distance from the bach surface of the plate to the edges 2 that when the base plate is secured to a 'dat supporting surface, the part l2 will lit snugly between the rear surface or the depressed portion and the supporting surface, so that when the bracket is secured to a ilat supporting sur face by means of screws 13 the supporting arm 9 will be held iirinly in the position shown in Fig. l. W hen the bracket is to be used for supporting radiator hose of the type indicated by reference numeral le, the supporting arm is provided with a plurality or' openings l5, to which the supporting rod i6 may be attached. This supporting rod or rods is provided at the upper end with a hook l?, that can be inserted through one of the openings l5 and at the lower end with a hook i8, which is adapted to receive the wall at the lower end of the hose. rl`he length of the rod is such that the hose ld can be raised upwardly a suiiicient distance to unhoolr it from the lower end or the rod. ln the drawing l have shown only one supporting rod and one radiator hose connected to the supporting arm, but two or more may be supported 'from each arm it desired. ll have also indicated in Fig. l how the supporting arm can be employed for the Support of ian belts 19 and similar articles.

From the above description it will be apparent that l have produced a bracket of very simple and substantial construction that can be readily teiten apart tor packing when it is lShipped and which can be readily assembled at its point of destination. This bracket is termed ci two stanipings which rnalres it very cheap to make and is so con struct/ed that it can be applied to the supn porting surface without the use ci any special tools, as it requires only screwu driver for this purpose.

l want to call particular attention to the construction of the plate and the supporting arm, by means of which a quite rigid assembly can be formed when the bracket is put into operative position.

Having described the invention what claimed new is:

1. A display device comprisin a two-part bracket, one part of which is a p ate adapted to be secured to a flat supporting surface and provided on the side nearest the supporting surface with a depressed portionhaving an opening, the other part consisting o a supporting bar extending through the opening and having one end provided with an enlarged part bent into a plane at right angles to the main portion and adapted to lie in the depression.

2. A two-part bracket comprising a plate adapted to be secured to a supporting surface, said plate having a depressed portion in its rear surface,said depressed portion having an opening, an elongated supporting bar having a substantially straight portion provided at one end with an enlarged portion bent at right angles to the bar and adapted lo lie in the depression, the straight portion extending through the opening and extending substantially perpendicular to the plane of the plate.

3. h two-part bracket comprising a plate adapted to be secured toa supporting surface, said plate having a depressed portion in its rear surface, said depressed portion having an opening, the edges of said plate being bent rearwardly and terminating in a plane lying a short distance to the rear of the plane of the rear surface of the plate, a supporting bar comprising a straight narrow member which extends through the opening in the plate, one end of the bar be-I ing bent at right angles to the plane oi the bar and lies in the depression.

e. A two-part bracket comprising a plate adapted to be secured to a supporting surface, said plate havinor a depressed portion in its rear surface, said depressed portion having; an opening, the edges of said plate being bent rearwardly and terminating in a piane lying a short distance to the rear of the plane of the rear surface of the plate,

a supporting bar comprising a straight narrow member which extends through the opening in the plate, one end of the har being bent at right angles to the plane ofi the bar and lies in the depression, said plate being also provided with openings for screws hy means or which it is fastened to support.

5. A brochet comprising a plate its edges curved rearwardly so that they lie in a plane parallel to the plane ci the rear suriace, the rear surface having a depressed area, the depressed area having an opening at one side, a supporting bar having straight portion extending through the opening, one end of said har being wider than the bar and bent at right angles, said last named portion lying in the depression serving to anchor the supporting Vhar t the piste,

A. brochet comprising a havin g its edges curved rearwardly so that they lie in a plane parallel to the plane of the rear surface, the rear surface having a depressed area, the depressed area having an opening at one side, a supporting bar having a. Istraight portion vextending through the opening, one end of said bar .being Wider than the barY and bent at right angles so as to provide an anchor adapted to fit the 10recess, said plate having openings for the reception of screws by means o which it is attached'to a support.

7. A bracket comprising a plate having its edges curved rearwardly so that they,A lie l5 in a plane parallel to the plane of the rearI surface, the rear surface having a depressed area, the depressed area having an opening at one side, a supporting bar having a straight portion extending through the 20 opening, one `end of said bar beino' wider 'than the bar and bent at right an es so as to (provide a part adapted to fit t e recess, sai plate having openings for the reception of screws by means of which it is attached to a support, and spaced parallel openings adapted to receive the ends of a tag.
