Description

H. HQHU NTL EY; CULiNARY VESSEL. No. 172,857. Patented Feb.1-,1876;
WITNE SE8 "1 H wow v ATTORNEYS PETERS. PHOTO-LITHGGRAFHER, WASHINGTON, HQ 1 UNITED STATES PATENT QFFICE.
.HOSEA H. HUNTLEY, OF QUINCY, ILLINOIS.
IMPROVEMENT IN CU LINARV Y ESSELS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 172,857, dated February 1, 1676; application filed July 31, 1875.
To all whom it may concern 1 Be it known that I, HosEA H. HUNTLEY,
of Quincy, in the county of Adams and State of Illinois, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Culinary Vessels; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a representation of a horizontal section of my vessel, and Fig. 2 is a vertical central sectional view of the same. Fig. 3 is a detailed sectional view.
This invention has relation to improvements in culinary vessels.
The object. of the invention is to conduct the heat up against the sides of a vessel, as well as against its bottom, for the purpose of accelerating ebullition.
The nature of the invention consists in combining, with an interior vessel adapted to sustain heat, an exterior corrugated sheathing inclosing the same, whereby the heat is conducted upward through the open bottom of the exterior sheathing, around the sides and bottoms of the interior vessel, thereby greatly accelerating the ebullition of water and the coctiou of food, as will be hereinafter more fully explained.
In the annexed drawings, A designates an ordinary culinary vessel, which may be of any of the usual forms, and is constructed of iron, tin, earthenware, or of any other material capable of resisting the eifects of fire and wa-' ter. This vessel is adapted to be received.
within a corrugated sheet-iron vessel, B,
which is provided upon its upper edge'with an annular flange, 12, upon which a flange, a, of
adapted to be received into the pot-hole of I the .stove, through which the flames will be directed upward in the grooves formed by the corrugations of the exterior vessel against the sides and bottom of the interior vessel.
When, from the accumulation of soot, .&c., between the vessels, it becomes necessary to obtain access thereto for the purpose of effecting a clearance, the bolts whereby said vessels are connected may be removed, thereby al lowing said vessels to be separated and the necessary cleansing effected.
In practice I propose to use, in connection with the exterior vessel B, an ordinary bail, O, or handlesD, in order that it may be the more readily lifted on and removed from a stove or'furnace.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The corrugated exterior vessel B, provided with the open rabbeted base 0 and perforated ledge 11, in combination with the interior vessel A, having a flange, a, the perforations in which register with those in the flange of the exterior vessel, substantially as described, and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
. HOSEA H. HUNTLEY. Witnesses:
L. B. MGKENNA, GEo. GRAHAM.
