IMPROVEMENT IN SPRINKLERS,
Specication forming part of Letters Patent No. l 72.4.67, dated January 18, 1876; application filed November 2 7, 1875.
To all 'whom it may concern Be. it known that I, JOHN G. MELGHEE, of Black Jack Spring, in the county of Fayette and State ot' Texas, have invented anew and Improved Sprinkler, ot' which the following is a specitication:
My invention consists ot' a short drum or hollow. cylinder', with the opening or inlet for receiving the water on one side Vand the `ori {ices for discharging the water onthe opposite metal, instead of the thin perforated sheet metal commonly used-say, about an eighteenth oi'an inch,or thereabout--Which has the effect ot' causing the Water to emerge in solid jets, capable of reaching over a wider rangeA of' area than it is possible for them to do when ei'ected through the thin perforated metal, which has the ei'ect of breaking the jets up into spray, and thus causing it to fall short. In practice the sprinkler will be made with a removable cover for convenience in cleaning it.
Having thus described my in vention, l claim as new and desire to secure by LettersPatent- The sprinkler-head herein described, consisting ot' the ring or cylinder A', having end caps B, perfor-ations D, anda pipe-connection, O, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
