BOTTLE STOPPER.
Application filed December 4, 1928, Serial No. 323,685, and. in France March 12, 1928.
The present invention relates to a device for stopping bottles, and is chiefly applicable to perfumery bottles on which the stopper is held by string. I am enabled to conceal the knot of the string or cord in the upper part of the stopper, to make the tied connection invisible, and to prevent all tampering with the stopper.
For this purpose the two strands of the cord end in a concave part formed in the top of the stopper, and when the cord is attached together, I permanently paste or otherwise secure in said concave part a small glass disk which fits closely into the same.
The appended drawings show by way of example an embodiment of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a vertical section of the stopper.
Fig. 2 is a plan View with the disk removed.
The cord 1 is tied together in the usual manner upon the bottle neck 2 below the flange 3 so that its two ends are diametrically opposite. The two strands are then inserted into the two holes 4 in the head of the stopper 5, and ending in a groove 6.
The said groove is formed in the bottom of I a concave part in the head of the stopper. \Vhen the cord has been tied, the knot is placed in the groove 6, and I then cement or otherwise secure in said concavity a disk 8 of glass or other substance, whichv completely covers the cord and renders the knot inaccessible. In fact, the bottle cannot be opened except by'cutting the cord, and this cannot be again tied or replaced without discovering the fraud.
Claim:
In a device for closing bottles, the combination of a stopper cooperating with the bottle neck, a concave recess formed in said stopperand in whose bottom is provided a radial groove communicating with two holes passing through the bottom of said recess, a cord mounted on the bottle neck and having a strand situated on each side of the neck, the two strands passing through the respective holes and being tied together in the said groove, and a convex disk secured in the said concave recess.
