DISK MOLDBOARD Filed July 27. 1928 Inventor l: Wan 7117M Patented Aug. 6, 1929.
UNITED STATES SYLVAN W. PACKED OF KIRK, COLORADO.
DISK MOLDBOARD.
Application filed July 27,
The present invention relates to disk mold board desi nod for one, two, three and tour row corn weeders and has for its prime object to provide a scraper with means for fastening o the same so as to maintain the disk clean and prevent the dirt from getting into the boxes and Wearing the bearings out.
Another very in'rportant object of the invention resides in the provision of a disk mold board of this nature that maintains the machine in good condition and enables the pull thereof to be lighter and generallyenables the machine to ttL'COHljJllSll the work in a better manner.
A still further very in'iportant obj ectof the invention resides in the provision of a device of this nature which is simple in its construction, inexpensive to manufacture, strong and durable, thoroughly efficient and reliable in -0 use, adjustable, and otherwise well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.
With the above and other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in certain novel features of crmstruction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the drawing:
Figure 1 is a plan view of the mold hoard attachment embodying the features of my in vention,
Figure 2 is an edge elevation thereof, and
Figure 3 is a perspective view thereot indicating the manner in which the same may be mounted.
l eierring to the drawing in detail it will be seen that the numeral 5 denotes the scraper blade which is of rectangular formation having one longitudinal edge sharpened as indicated at 6.
.ar elongated shank 7 is riveted or otherwlse securely attached to the blade intermediate the ends thereof as. indicated at 8 so that a portion of the shank extends obliquely thereto. A bracket comprises an elongated body having a straight portion 9 n'ierging into a curved portion 10 which in turn merges into a portion 11 oblique to the portion 9.
The portion 9 is provided with a longitudinally extendingslot 12 and the shank 7 is provided with a similar slot 14. A. bolt 15 passes through the slots 12 and 14 so that the shank may beheld in difli'erent adjusted 1928. Serial No. 295,696.
position in angular relationship with respect to the bracket.
The extension or portion 11 is with an opening 16 so that the same may be anchored by one of the bolts on the hearing box. Obviously theshanks may be placed at any angle desired in respect to the bracket so that the scraper blade will. engage the disk and maintain the same clean of dirt and the like and prevent this dirt from getting on to the journal boxes and making the pull lighter and enabling the machine to do better work.
Obviously the a ttachmen t provides the necessary adjustn'ient so that it may be engaged on one, two, three and tour row corn weeders.
It is thorrght that the construction, utility and advantages of this invention will now be apparent to those skilled in this art with out a more detailed description thereof.
'l. he present embodiment of the invention has been disclosed in detail merely for the purposes or exemplitioation since in actual practice it attains the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of the invention and the above description.
It will be apparent that changes in the de tails of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing- .tfrom the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is:
The combination with a rotary disk of a farm implement having a bearing box therefor including a holding bolt, of a scraper for one face of the disk including a rectangular shaped blade having one longitudinal edge thereof: sharpened, a shank including angularly related portions, one of which is secured to one face of the blade and the other portion extending angularly from the other longitudinal edge of the blade and having a longitudinally extending slot therein, a SllPlliOlting bracket including a foot receiving the holding bolt of the bearing, and an angularly extending arcuate portion having a longitudinally extending slot therein, and a bolt passing through the slots of the bracket and shank, for holding the shank and blade n a predetermined adjusted position.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
SYLVAN W. PACKER.
