UNITED STATES JOS ANTONIO ALBIs, OF sALnDrLLO, ARGENTINA.
BOOT STRETCHER.
Application filed August 13, 1928. Serial No. 299,198.
My presentinvention relates to a new type of stretcher for boots, riding boots and the like, its main object being to provide a stretcher of double action or effect which allows the simultaneous stretching oit a pair of boots or the like.
The stretcher according to my present invention allows the simultaneous stretching of a pair of boots, which means a considerable gain of time over the stretchers used heretofore and at the same time allows a much more regular operation, as each of the pieces is submitted to a like degree of stretching.
In order that my present invention be clearly understood and easily carried i nto practice, a preferred embodiment thereof has been shown in the appended drawings wherein, i
Figure l is a side view of a double action stretcher and its collars.
Figure 2 shows the operation of my stretcher simultaneously stretching a pair of boots.
Figure 3 shows the use of the stretcher when itis only desired to stretch the upper portion of one riding boot.
Figure 4 shows the stretcher as used for enlarging the lower portion of the boot and inally, y
Figure 5 is a side view of the stretching device.
Similar characters of reference denote same or like parts throughout the said figures.
In the figures oli thc drawing, l .is the front portion or block of the stretcher, which may be constructed of wood, metal or any suit able material. In the inner face thereof and approximately the middle of its ends, a metal plate 2is lixed, said plate bearing the pressure exerted by the screw' spindle 3, the end of which is lodged in a suitable cavity formed in the said plate 2 so as to avoid the dislodgement Ol.z the parts when the stretcher is used.
The Piece 4 is substantially similar to piece l, and is provided with a central inner plate 5 having a central screw threaded bushing through which the screw 3 passes, said screw being provided with a handlecat its free end.
The collars or rings 6 shown in Figure l consist oi a band of leather Or any other suitable resisting material and they are used For the simultaneous stretching of two boots, the stretching device is introduced as shown in Figure 2 and the stretching is effected by turning the screw 3. When it is desired to .stretch only the mouth or upper portion of the boot, one of the ends oit the stretcher is left free and the other is introduced as shown in. Figure 3, the stretching being eifected as previously explained.
It desired, as shown in Figure l, a supplementar-y piece 7 may be added to enlarge the part correspoi'iding to the foot oily the boot.
The operation of the device according to my presentr invention is obvious and no further explanations are required to clearly understand it.
It is also Obvious that many consti-notional changes may be introduced without departing from the scope of my present invention which has been clearly set forth in the appended claims.
Having now fully described and ascor- `tained the nature of my present invention and in what mannerthe same is to be carried into practice, I declare that what I claim and desire to protect by Letters Patent is:
l. A stretcher for boots, shoes and the like comprising a pair of coinciding blocks; and a screwthreaded spindle mounted intermediatcthe ends of the blocks to force the blocks apart, said intermediate mounting ot the spindle permitting a boot to be placed and maintained in stretched relation on each end of the pair of blocks.
2. A stretcher for boots, shoes and the like comprising a pair of coinciding blocks; a metal plate secured intermediate the ends of one of said blocks; a second plate secured intermediate the ends of the other oftsaid blocks; and a screwthreaded spindle cooper'- ating with said plates to .force the blocks apart, said intermediate mounting of the spindle permitting a boot to be placed and maintained in stretched relation on each end of the pair of blocks.
3. A stretcher for boots, shoes and the 'like comprising a pair of coinciding blocks; a metal plate secured intermediate the ends oi one of said blocks and provided with a cavity; a second plate secured intermediate the ends of the other of Said blocks and having u sci'ewthreaded portion theiieln; and a sei" *fhi'eaded spindle mounted in and Cooperating with the scl'ewtlneaded portion ol 5 the second plate and the end thereof abutting in the Cavity of the first-mentioned plate to loi'ee the plates and blocks apart, said intermediate mounting of the spindle pei'niiiting a boot to be placed and maintained in stretched relation on each end of the pair ol 10 blocks.
In testimony whereof I znlx my Signature.
