The invention will be best understood by reference to the aocompanying drawings, showing the preferred form of construction and in which:

In the accompanying drawing wherein the preferred embodiment of my invention is illustrated, 10 indicates the main frame of my device which is substantially rectangular in formation so as to include parallelly eX- tending side portions 11 and 12. The end 13 of the frame includes a port-ion which is inset a predetermined amount so as to define ears 14 and 15 at the corners of the frame. The end 16 of the frame includes an outwardly projecting portion 17 at substantially the mid-portion thereof.V

A substantially U-shaped member 18 is provided and the bight portion 18a thereof is disposed so as to rest on the outer end of the portion 17 to which it is suitably secured.

The free ends of the limb portions 19 Aand 2O of the member 18 are suitably attached to the inset portion 21 of the bightportion 13 as illustrated in4 Fig; 1. This device com prises the main frame of my improved- Waver. i

In order that the frame will properlyrest upon the scalpof the wearer, formthe limbportions 11, 19, 20 and 12 in such a manner that they embody concavoconvex configuration in the longitudinal extent thereof.` p

Secured to the inset portion21 substantially opposite the joining pointsof the limb portions 19 and 2() are hook elements 22 and 23 which have the lowermost portions thereof disposed to be in alignment `with the space between the limb portions 11 and 19 and 2O and 12. Mounted on the end 16adjacent the portion 17 so as to be pivotal thereabout are arms 24and 25 which are ,disposed to extend below the inset portion 21 and these arms terminate in end portions 26 and 27. The arms 24 and 25 embody a concavo-convex configuration longitudinally thereof which is of greater curvature than the eoncavo-eonvex formation of the limb` portions 11, 19, 20, and 12and this concavoconvex conliguration` terminates ad] acent the inset portion21such thatwhen the portions 26 and 27 are disposed in the hook. elements 22 and 23, the arms 24 and 25 ywill besfecure` ly lockedy in position.

ln Fig. 3, the manner of using my iin-` proved waver is clearly illustratedV and a lock of hair is indicated by 30. As is clearly illustrated therein, the ends of the lock of hair are directed under the limb portion 11 and are then directed around the arm 24 which at this time is preferably disengaged from the hook 22 and from the arm 24 the lock of hair is directed so as toextend below the limb portions 19 and 2O and it is then directed around the arm which is preferably disengaged at this 'time from the hookv23 and from theV arm 25 the lock of hair y isy directed under the limb'portion 12. After this weaving operation is completed, the arms 24 and 25 are moved into engagement with the hooks 21 and 22 and therefore since these arms embody a greater curvature than the limb portions 11, 19, 20,

and 12, the arms 24 and 25 will be disposed above the plane of said limb portions and thus the hair will be drawn into a substantially taut condition. After the device has been left positioned in the hair for a predetermined length of time, it is removed and the hair will have assumed a wavy appearance substantially similar to that indicated in Fig. 6. f

VIn Figs. 4 and 5 a modified form of con-- struction is depicted and in this instance the main frame is constructed in substantially the same manner as th'at depicted in Figs. 1 and 2. However, in this instance in place of the arms 24 and 25, a substantially U1- shaped4 frame is provided which includes a bight portion 28 and limb portions 29 and 31. The limb portions 29 and 31 are formed substantially similar to the arms 24 and 25fand the ends thereof are adapted to be disposed so as to be directed below the inset portion 21. The bight portion 28 is adapted to rest on the upper side of the main frame in substantial alignment with the end portions adjacent the portion 17 and after the hair has been woven between the limb portions in the manner hereintofore set forth and when the hair is drawn taut, it is apparent that the hair will serve to hold the bight portion 28 be expeditiously secured together as by soldering and it is therefore apparent that I have set forth a very economical construction which may be'manufactured at a very low cost.

While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into effect, this is capable of variation and modification, without departing fr'om the,v spirit of the invention. I, therefore, do not wish to be limited to vthe precise details of construction set forth, but desire lto avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claims. l

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to protect by VLetters'Patent is: Y

1. In a device of the character stated, a frame member comprising side members and end members, bar members extending between said end members parallel to said .side members, and other bar members hingedly connected to one of said end members intermediate said bar members and said side members, and means for detachably connecting the other ends of said last named bar members to the' other of said end members.

2. In a device of-the class described, a frame member comprising side members and end members, one of said end members including' an outwardly offset portion at substantially the midpoint in the extent thereof, the other Yof saidend members embodying outwardly offset portions at the junction thereof with said side members, said frame member having other bar'members eX- l tending parallel to said side members from the central offset portion ofsaid one end member to the yother of said end members,
