This invention relates to ventilators, and
the general object of the invention. is to provide a window ventilator adapted to be associated with a window in such a manner that when the window is open for ventilation, the
air is directed upwardly for proper circulation about a room, thereby preventing drafts.
A further object of the invention is to provide a window ventilator that is adjustable to accommodate air deflecting means of various thicknesses, and includes means to protect air deflecting means against breakage or damage.
Another object of the invition is to pro vide a window ventilator that is simple in construction. inexpensive to manufacture and install, and is etiicient in operation and service.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing my invention in detail, referen ce will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a fragmentary front elevation of a window illustrating the application of the ventilator forming the subject matter of the present invention. Referring to the drawings in detail, the letter A indicates a window frame and the end brackets of my ventilator are adapt-ed to be secured to the confronting inner'faces of the frame as best shown in Figure 1 of the drawings.
The end brackets each include a pair of members which for distinction are indicated by the reference numerals 1 and 2.

By providing the slots 1 in the members 2 it will be apparent that these members 2 can be adjusted relative with respect to the members 1 with the result, the flanges 7 can be 'adjusted accordingly for the purpose of receiving deflecting means of various thicknesses. v
The brackets are secured to the window frame in a manner whereby the inclined edges thereof are disposed inwardly, while :the straight or outer edges are arranged in a manner so that they will not interfere with the proper operation of the window.
The deflectin means is protected thru the instrumentality of elongated strip 9 transversely rolled upon itself and being provided with an inwardly directed flange 10 cooperating with a straight portion 11 for the purpose of forming a guide to receive the upper edge of the deflecting means, while formed with the lower edge of the straight portion 11 is a horizontal flange 12 that has its ends resting upon the top edges of the members that provide the end brackets. By this construction, it will be apparent that the elongated strip not only protects the deflecting means from breakage or damage, due to the fact that the strip materially strengthens the deflecting means, but the strip provides a. convenient rest for the arms of a person when it is desired to stand adjacent the window and look out of the same.
From the above description and disclosure of the drawings, it will be obvious that I have provided a window ventilator that is constructed in a manner whereby it is capable of receiving deflecting means of various thicknesses, and the deflecting means is protected against damage or breakage. The ventilator can be easily installed and allows for the passage of air through a window so as to properly ventilate a room but eliminate direct drafts.
The apex ends of the members are disposed in contacting engagement with the sill of the window frame with the result the deflecting means will rest upon the sill and incline in.- Wardly into the room as best shown in Figure 2.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features r of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction, and in the com bination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claims.
Vhat is claimed is 1. A window ventilator of the character described comprising end brackets each including a pair of substantially triangle shaped members, means for securing said members to the confronting inner faces of a window frame, one of said members of each bracket being movable with respect to the other of said members, flanges formed on the inclined edges of said members, deflecting means received between the flanges of each member, an elongated strip detachably secured to the top of the deflecting means, and means formed with said strip and resting upon the upper edges of one of said men'ibers.
2. A Window ventilator of the character described comprising end brackets each including a pair of cooperatively associated members of substantially triangle formation means for securing said members in cooperative association to the confronting inner faces of a window frame, one of said members of each bracket being adjustable with respect to its companion member, flanges formed with the inclined edges of said members, deflecting means received between said flanges, means .detachably received by the upper end of said deflecting means for protecting the latter, and a flange formed with the upper edge of one of said members of each bracket and providing a guide for receiving the other member of each. bracket.
3. A window ventilator of the character described comprising end brackets each including companion members of substantially triangle formation, one member of each bracket being provided with openings adapted to register with slots formed in the other member thereof, means for passage through said openings and slots for securing said brackets to the confronting faces of a window frame, flanges formed with the inclined edges of the members and cooperating to provide guides, a flange formed with the upper edge of the slotted members for receiving the upper edge of the other members, a plate received in said guides, an elongated strip including a rounded portion, a straight portion, a flange formed with said strip and cooperatii'ig with the straight portion for receiving the upper edge of the plate for clamping engagement therewith, and means formed with the straight portion and being adapted to rest upon the upper edge of the slotted member.
