Upon the return or upward travel of the rack 6 as the plunger is restored to normal position, pin 11 engages the rear side of cam 28, having reference to Figure 4, causing the contact member to rock on its axis away from the water ejector, as in Figure 6, against the action of spring 32, and without any movement of the water ejector. As soon as the pin 11 passes out of engagement with the cam 28, the contact member is restored to initial position by the spring 82 and the parts are then in readiness for another operation.

In a stamp aflixing machine, the combination with a water compartment, of a water ejector pivoted in the compartment, a contact member pivoted coaxially with the water ejector, a pin carried by one of said pivoted parts and adjustably engaging the other of said pivoted parts, and actuating means cooperating with the contact member.

In a stamp afiixing machine, the combination with a water compartment, of a water ejector pivotally mounted in the compartment, a contact member pivoted coaxially with the water ejector, a pin carried by the contact member and adjustably engaging the water ejector, said pin having a slot in one end, a spring carried by the contact member and having one end anchored in said slot of the pin to hold the latter in adjusted position, and actuating means cooperating with the contact member.

In a stamp affixing machine, the combination with a water compartment, of a water ejector pivotally mounted in the compartment, a contact member pivoted coaXially of the water ejector, said contact member acting when moved 1n one direction to move the e ector and movable 1n the other dlrectlon independently of the ejector, a pin carried by the contact member and adjustably engaging the water ejector to permit varying the throw of the latter, a cam carried by the water ejector, and an actuating member movable alternately on opposite sides of the cam.
7. In a stamp affixing machine, the combination with a water compartment, of a water ejector pivotally mounted therein, a contact member pivoted coaxially of the ejector, said contact member serving to move the ejector when operated in one direction and movable independently of the ejector in the opposite direction, a cam carried by the contact member, and an oscillatory arbor carrying a pin engageable alternately with opposite sides of said cam.
8. In a stamp affixing machine, the combination with a plunger and water compartthe compartment, a contact member pivoted coaxially of the ejector, said contact member serving to operate the Water ejector When moved in one direction and being movable independently of the Water ejector in the 0pposite direction, a cam carried by the contact member, an oscillatory arbor, a pin on the arbor alternately engaging opposite sides of said cam, a pinion c rried by the arbor, and a rack carried by said plunger having engagement with the pinion;

In a stamp affixing machine, the combination with a plunger and Water compartment, of a Water ejector pivotally mounted in the compartment, and operating means for the ater ejector including an oscillatory arbor, a pinion carried by the arbor, and a raclccarried by the plunger and having engagement with said pinion.
