UNITED STATES 1,719,656 PATENT omE THOMAS H. FURMAN, OF RIALTQ'CALIFORNIA.
. Born HOLDER.
Application filed October 25, 1928. Serial No. 314,977.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in rope holders, generally though not specifically adapted for use in the securing of clothes line ends whereby to permit the line to be tautly arranged between opposite posts, and also topermit the line to be readily detached from the posts when not in use in order that the line may be stored within the house, thus protecting it from the weather. One of the most pertinent objects of this invention is to provide a rope holder of this characterthat is extremely simple in construction and inexpensive of manufacture and one that is well adapted for rigidly securing the line in taut condition.
Furthermore the invention is characterized by a removable clamp member to permit the line to be quickly and easily associated with or removed from the holder.
From the foregoing and other objects in view as the nature of theinvention will be better understood, the same comprises the novel form, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, shown in the accompanying drawings and claimed.
In the drawings wherein like reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views:
Figure 1 is a side elevation of myrope holder illustrated as having one end of, a clothes line or rope associated therewith.
Figure 2 is a front elevation of the holder.
Figure 3 is a perspective of the bracket member per se, and
Figure 4 is a similar view of the movable clamping member.
Now having particular reference to the drawings, my novel holder consists of a bracket member 5 in the form of a casting or stamping constructed to provide a narrow back wall 6 and a pair of spaced parallel side walls 77. Said back wall 6 of this bracket is provided at its opposite ends with screw openings to permit the bracket to be screwed or otherwise securely attached to a clothes line post, or other supporting element.
The side walls 7 ofthis bracket are formed with upwardly and inwardly extending scribed.
Furthermore, this holder consists of a;
hooks 88 for a purpose presently to be de-.
lever for rocking the same in a reverse direction. In view of the foregoing description when considered in conjunction with the accompanying drawingit will be apparent that I have provided a novel, simple and useful rope holder that is well adapted for all the purposes heretofore designated, and even though I have herein shown and described the invention as consisting of certain detail structural elements it is nevertheless to be understood that some changes may be made therein without affecting the spirit and scope of the appended claim. I
Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is":
of spaced parallel side walls, said bracket adapted to be anchored to a suitable supthe back wall of the bracket when the rope is port, upwardly and inwardly extending passed between the bracket and lever and hooks formed at the forward edges of the tension applied to the rope at the upper end bracket side walls, a clamping lever consistof the lever, and a flexible connection be- 5 ing of a back Wall and a pair of side walls, a tween the lever and said bracket to prevent 15 pin arranged transversely between the side displacement of the lever with respect to said walls of the lever and projecting at its ends bracket. beyond said side walls for detachable engage- In testimony whereof I affix my signature. ment within said hooks, the lower end of the i 10 clamp adapted for bindingthe rope against THOMAS H. F URMAN.
