COMBINATION KITCHEN CABINET AND REFRIGERATOB.

My invention relates to a novel combination kitchen cabinet and refrigerator, and has for its primary objectthe provision of a device that will combine in a single unit all the facilities and advantages hitherto only to be obtained by the u'se of a refrigerator and akitchen cabinet in separate form.

Another object of my invention is to provide a device of the kind described, having additional concealed means adapting it,

when desired, to cook food.

A further object of my invention is to provide means in a device of the kind described having novel means adapting it to l5 be extended. y

Further objects and advantages ofthe eonstruction and method herein employed will appear more fully in the hereinafter specification when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a front elevation of my device..

In the drawin the numeral 15 designates the supporting Iegs of the cabinet having the bottom 16, secured by screws 17 to the end rails 18, having the slots 19 adapted vto receive the upper part of the rails 21 and 21 the lower part of which rides in the slots 19, the rails 21 and 21 having depending shoes 22 and 22', which engage with the slot 20.

As best shown in the extended position of the cabinet in Figure 6, the ends of thc cabinet comprise the lefthand extension member 23 and the righthand extension member 24, thelefthand end 23 including the bottom fastening member 25, the com- 55 partment 26, the compartments 28 having shelves 28', it being evident that the lefthand member may be drawn from the closed position shown in Figure 1 to the position illustrated in Figures 5 and 6, by means of the aforesaid rails 21 and 22 and slots 19 and 20. v

-The extending mechanism of the righthand end of the cabinet is symmetrical with that of the lefthand end 23 and comprises the rail 21 and shoe 22 adapted to ride in slots 19 and 20. The righthand end 24 further comprises the compartment 27, compartment 29, both left and righthand members 23 and 24 being also provided with swinging doors 30 and 31. 32 and 33 are the Front panels of the left and rifrhthand ends 23 and 24; and 34 and 35 the back panels. 36 and 37 are compartments in the. left and right hand ends of the extension v members 23 and 24 as illustrated in Figures 76 6, 7 and 8. The compartments 36 and 37 are provided with drawers 38 and 38.

40 is a compartment in the lefthand end adapted to receive a receptacle 41 having a plurality of slats 42 adapted to support 1ce. 43 is a compartment therein adapted to contain the water from the melting ice, te be drained therefrom by the pipe 44. 45 is a work board situated in the middle part of the cabinet, and beneath the work board are pockets 46, 47 and 48, for the urpose of holding food articles of various escri tion.

At the rearward part o'f the work oard 45, are compartments 52 suitably mounted on the stationary part of the cabinet. The compartments 52 have a plurality of drawers 53 for the purpose of containing various articles of food, spices, etc. Beneath the compartments 52 and the drawers 53 are bin pockets 54, which may accommodate other articles.

The mode of operation of my device and its uses will now be readily apparent from an inspection of the drawings,` and may be briey described as follows:

In normal position the cabinet will be as shown in Figure 1. When it is desired to extend the cabinet, the ends of the two sections 23 and 24 are drawn apart, thereby disclosing the central bin and receptacle containing central compartment, the lugs 21 22 and the slots 19 and 2O providing the usual guide grooves. It will be noted that while I have provided my device with an ice containing receptacle, it will be readily 110 understood that my device is adapted to accommodate the modern electrical refrigeration unit-s, it then being necessary merely to make the usual switch connections for that purpose. In the riglithand end ol my cabinet the electrical stove 5l provides a convenient method of preparing food, and by means of the usual insulation, the heat generated, even while the stove is in actual operation, will not interfere with the refrigeration ot the lefthand end compartment. This is particularly true of the electrical mode of cooking food, since when the current is turned ott, the stove wilkquickly return to the mean temperature of the cabinet.

By the method and construction herein illustrated and described, I have been enabled togreatly economize space, and at the same time to save labor on the part of those who having occasion to use the cabinet lmay take advantage of its practical features by not being. obliged to go from the refrigerator to the stove and to the kitchen cabinet, this being essential when these devices are in separate units, and differently placed.

While I have herein described and in the accompanying drawing illustrated a preferred form of my invention, I do not thereby desire or intend to limit myself specii cally thereto. It will be understood that minor changes'of construction and arrangement i'nay be made, if desired, without departing from the spirit and scope of the -invention as defined in the appended claims.

lVhat I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. A device of the kind described comprising a cabinet having a plurality of drawers cent-rally positioned beneath a stationary work board forming a part of said cabinet, and a pair of extension end kmembers slidably connected to said cabinet, and normally overlying said Work board but uncovering the said work board when in eX- tended position.

2. In combination, a kitchen cabinet and refrigerator comprising a main receptacle containing portion, a plurality of ends eX- tendibly connected to said portion, one of said ends including means for receiving a refrigerating instrumentality, the other of said ends including means for receiving a cooking instrumentality, and additional means whereby the main receptacle containing portion is-concealed when said ends are in normal unextended position.

3. A combination kitchen cabinet and refrigerator having. extensionfends longitudinally movable relatively to a central portion having a plurality of pockets containing drawers, one of said ends having means to receive a source of refrigeration therein,

the other of said ends having means to receive a source of heat therein, a work board secured over said pockets, said work board being uncovered in operative position `when said ends are extended.

4. A kitchen cabinet having a central section containing a plurality of bins located at the top, bottom and side of said central section, a pair of compartment containing end members connected and longitudinally movable relatively to said central section in a manner to cover and uncover a work board fastened to the central section and also to cover and uncover bins at the top of the central section, said extension. end members being supported on rails sliding in grooves provided in the bottom of said central section.

5. VA kitchen cabinet having a central section containing a plurality of compartments, a pair of extension end members longitudinally movable relatively to said central section, thereby covering and uncovering said plurality of compartments and also covering and uncovering at the same time a work board fastened over said plurality of compartments, rails connected to said end members, said rails having shoes slidable in slots provided in members attached to said central section.

6. A kitchen cabinet having a central stationery section mounted on supporting legs, said stationary section containing compartments, a pair of extension end members slidably connected with said central section, said extension end members having rails slidable in slots rovided in rails attached to the bottom o said central section, a work board secured to said central stationary section and means whereby said end members when drawisinto extended position are adapted to uncoy/er the compartments in the central sec- 'tionland the work board, and to cover said compartments and said work boardv when in unex'tended position.

7; A device of the kind described, comprising in combination, a cabinet having a central stationary section mounted on supporting legs, a pair of extension end members slidably connected with said central section, a work board secured to said central stationary" section, said Work board being operatively uncovered when said end sections are placed in extended position, one of said extension end members having a receptacle for ice therein, the other of said extension end members having means for receiving a source of heat, said extension end members, when drawn to extended position, being also adapted to uncover bins provided in a rearwardly extending part of said central section.
