PATENT OFFICE.
LENA. MORITSKY, 0F BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
WRENCH.
Application filed rebmr a, 1926. Serial ,m. 86,568.
This invention relates to improvements in wrenches, and more particularly to that form of wrench known as a key'wrench for use upon strainer plugs in plumbing fixtures and which constitutes a single tool having a multiplicity of keys thereon for fitting and associating the wrenchvwith the various sizes and configurations of strainer plugs.
Another object of the invention consists in the specific configuration of the invention per se constituting cylindrical sections including various sizes and configurations of keys upon the respective ends thereof for corresponding and interfitting engagement with the particular form or forms of strainer plugs and the tool in its entirety providing a leverage by the portions not in use whereby no other tool need be employed in the tightening or loosening of strainer plugs other than the wrench itself.
With the above and other objects in view, the invention further includes the following novel features and details of construction,
to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the appended claim.
' In the drawing v Figure 1 is an elevation of the invention. Figure 2 is a side elevation thereof. Figure 3 is a similar View with reference to Figure 2 with parts broken away and illustrating the construction thereof.
Figure 4 is a top plan view of the invention with parts broken away.
Figure 5 is a bottom plan view.
Referring to the drawing in detail, wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the reference characters 10 and 11 indicate vertical and horizontal disposed cylindrical sections associated one with the other in the manner as clearly illustrated in Figure 1 of the drawing in forming a substantially T-shaped configuration. The lower end of the vertical leg 10 being enlarged as indicated at 12 and providing intersecting cutout portions 13' therein in forming the diametrically opposing keys 14,
the outer side of the vertical leg 10 having a substantially Y-shaped portion 15 extending outwardly therefrom and providing keys having lugs 16 upon the ends and corners thereof.
One end of the horizontally disposed cylin drical section 11 is flared outwardly as indicated at 17 and is also provided with intersecting cutout portions 18 informing the keys as indicated at 19, these keys being smaller in configuration and set closer one toward the other than the kegs 14 for interfitting engagement within an upon strainer plugs of a smaller size. The opposite end of the section 11 terminate in oppositely extending diametrically opposed ears or lugs 20 from which extend forwardly thereof spaced parallel pins 21 adapted for engagement within that type of strainer plugs having openings or holes drilled within the opposite sides of the periphery thereof. 6
In the use and operation of the present in- ,vention it clearly apparent and manifest that the various sizes and configurations of strainer plugs may be fitted between the keys provided upon the opposite ends of the cylindrical sections. It is further to be noted that the usual difiiculty in securing and removing strainer plugs, namely, using a file or the barn dle ends of pliers within the strainer pipe and requiring the services of a helper for holding the waste pipe is no longer necessary, the invention being adapted to fit all types of strainer plugs and owing to the configuration thereof exposing an appropriate portion of the tool as a handle to permit the desired leverage and stress upon the particularstrainer plug.
The invention is susceptible of various changes in its form, proportions andminor details of construction, and the right is herein reserved to make such changes as properly fall within the scope of the appended claim. Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is:- I A key wrench comprising a substantially T-shaped cylindrical member, a substantially Y-shaped portion projected therefrom and at rightangles thereto at an appropriate point from the longer leg thereof, said portion having the innermost portions thereof radially disposed from its point of connection with the aforementioned leg of the cylindrical member, and lugs projected in advance of the outermost ends of said portion.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
LENA MORITSKY.
