PICKER-STICK-LUG STRAP BEARING.
Application filed April 9, 1928. Serial No. 268,750.
This invention relates to means for connecting a picker stick to its draw bar, the general object of the invent-ion being to provide a yoke-shaped member which is adapted to be fastened to the draw bar, with means for movably connecting the bight of said member to the picker stick so as to eliminate the use of the strap lever and its attendant disadvantages, now in use.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically point-ed out in the appended claim.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1 is an elevation showing the invention in use.
Figure 2 is a top plan view of Figure 1, with the picker stick in section.
Figure 3 is a similar view, with the connecting means between the yoke member and the picker stick in section.
In these views, A indicates the picker stick and B the draw bar. In carrying out my invention, I provide a yoke-shaped member 1 formed of round stock with its ends -fastened to fiat pieces 2 which are bolted or otherwise fastened to the draw bar. A spherical men her 3 is formed on the bight of the yokeshaped member and fits in a spherical opening r'ormed of two substantially semi-spherical recesses at formed in the sections 5 of a clamping member C which is fastened to the picker stick by the bolts 6 which pass through the two sections, the picker stick and through a channel-shaped plate 7 on the opposite edge of the picker stick, as clearly shown in the drawing. The inner section 5 has a groove therein to receive the edge of the picker stick. A cup 8 is carried by the outer section of the clamp 3 and has its stem in communication with the spherical opening to provide lubrieating means for the walls of the opening and the spherical member 3.
From the foregoing it will be seen that this device will movably connect the picker stick with its draw bar, thus eliminating the lever strap now in use and its attendant disadvantages. This device can be easily and quickly applied and is durable as it will last for years. It can be adjusted by first attaching it to the picker stickand then connecting it with the draw bar with the parts in the proper position.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
It is to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changesi all within the scope of the appended claim.
What I claim is Means for connecting a picker stick with its draw bar comprising a yoke-shaped mem her having its ends connected with the draw bar with the picker stick passing through the space formed by the yoke part of the member, a spherical member on the bight of the yokeshaped member, a clamp composed of two sec tions, each section having a semi-spherical recess therein for forming a spherical opening to receive the spherical member, means for attaching the sections together and to the picker stick, and means for supplying lubricant to the spherical member.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
EDVARD LADEAU.
