The object of this invention is to provide a new and improved carton in which to ship a large display card by mail or express and protect it against injury.

This and other objects of the invention will be illustrated in the drawing, described in the specification and pointed out in the claims at the end thereof.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the carton with the display card in place therein, with the cover flaps shown open.

Figure 2 is a vertical section on the line 2 2 ofFigure 1, the cover flap being shown closed.

Figure 3 is an enlarge-d section on the line 3"3 of Figure 2.

In the drawings, like reference numerals indicate like parts. In the drawings reference numeral 1 indicates the back of my improved carton which carton is folded up of one piece of board, double faced corrugated board being preferably used. On the side edges are the

2 and 3 and connected to these are the cover flaps 4 and 5, all of which parts are connected together and,

are folded up on the lines indicated, which lines are scored. On the upper edge is provided an upper end section 8 and on the lower edge is provided a lower end section 9.

12, 12 at the top and bottom of the carton.

When the cover flaps are closed over, the display card is fully enclosed and is carried in suspension in the carton. If the carton is dropped on one corner the cover itself may be bent or damaged but the damage will ordinarily not extend to the display card, which is held an inch or two back from each corner of the carton. In this way the display card, which may be very large and very expensive, is protected against injury and therefore may be shipped long distancesat very moderate expense.

I claim:

1. A carton for a display card comprising a back and side members and cover flaps attached thereto, upper and lower end sections having webs thereon extending toward the center of the carton, channel shaped members attached to the edge of the webs nearest the middle of the card, said channelshaped membersopening toward the center of the carton, said channel shaped members being adapted to engage the upper and lower edges of a display card,the cover flaps being adapted to enclose and cover'the card.

2. A carton for a display card comprising aback and side members and cover flaps attached thereto, upper and lower end sections having webs thereon extending toward the center of the carton, channel shape-d members attached to the edge of the webs nearest the middle of the card, said channel shaped members opening toward the center ofthe carton, said channel shaped members being adapted to engage the upper and lower edges of a display card, the cover'flaps being adapted to enclose and cover the card, the bottom of each'of said channels being held a safe distance from the top and bottom edge of the back of the carton so that any corner of the carton can be bent or damaged without injuil'y to the display card carried in-the channe 5.

3. A carton for a display card comprising a back and side members and cover 'flaps at tached thereto, upper and lower end sections having webs thereon extending toward the center of the carton, channel shaped members attached to the edge of the webs nearest the a middle of the card'and placed between the webs and the'back of the carton, said channel shaped members opening toward the center of the carton, said channel shaped members being adapted to engage the upper and lower edges of a display card, the cover flaps being adapted to enclose and cover the card.

4. A carton for a display card comprising a back andside members and cover flaps ati tached thereto, upper and lower end sections having webs thereon extending toward the center of the carton, channel shaped members attached to the edge of the webs nearest the middle of the card, said channel shaped members opening toward'the center of the carton, said channel shaped members being adapted to engage the upper and lower edges of a display card, the cover flaps being adapt ed to enclose and cover the card, the bottom of each of said channels being held a safe distance from the top and bottom edge of the back of the carton so that any corner of the carton can be bent or damaged With-' out injury to the display card carried inthe channels, said channel being adapted to be cut away to permit a special part of the dis- 10 play card to project through into the open space beyond it.
