1 com" BAG.-
' Application filed June 25,
This invention relates to improvements in I golf bags, and. more especially to means for supporting a. golf bag in an upright position. Inthat form of device embodying the fea-' .tures of my'invention shown in the accom- V r p panying drawings, Fig. 1 is a view in side elevation showing the legs'of the supportlng ing ring 11.'
' moved upwardly. v I v d When the leg-carrying member16 is moved 1 i 1 right position.
bag and held in position by drawing mechanism extended Fig. 2 is a .view taken as indicated by the line2'of Fig. 1; Fig.3 is a view of the lower end of the bag showing the legs of the supporting mechanism drawn in,
and Fig. 4 is a partial bottom planview of the apparatus shown in Fig. 2.
As shown in the drawings, 10 indicates a golf bag, which may be of the ordinary form, having at the bottom end the metal support:
The supporting mechanism, as here shown,
. is detachable and comprises a metal band 12 adapted to be fastened to thelower end of the the ends together bymeans of bolts 13.v V
The band '12'is provided with'five slots 14:
3 adapted to accommodate the radial legs 15 which are here shown made ofa curved piece of metalwith widened ends15 I The inner ends of the legs 15 are pivotally attached at 15 to a leg carrying-member 16 which is adapted to moveupwardly and downwardly with respect'to the bottom 17- of the golf bag.
The ring 12 alsofcarries the cross-bars 18,.
and the upper side of the legecarrying mem ber 16 is provided with clamps 19 adapted to snap over the bars 18 when the member 16 is upwardly, as shown in Fig. 2, the legs 15 are 7 extended and the clamps 19 engage the rods. 7 r 40! 18. The outer endsof the legs thus serve to engage the turf and support" the bagin up- When the bag is lifted, the member 16 may I Y be pulled downwardly, as shown in'Fig. 3,
to release the clamps 19 from the'bars 18 to cause the legs 15 to be pulled inwardly,as shown in this figure. Releasing of .the,
. clamps may be effected by kicking the legs 15 inwardly or by exerting unusual force rupwardly against the end of one, thus causing the clamp 19 to be released.
1928. Serial No. 987,954.
The member 16 may be pushed upwardly by turf, thus causing the member 16to move up wardly until the clamps'19' engage the rods18.
While I have shown and described certain Y pressing the bag'down against thegroundor embodiments of myiinvention, it is to i beunderstood that it is capable of many modifications. 'Changes, therefore in the constructlon and arrangement may be made without departing from the spirit and scopeof the '1; invention as disclosed in the appended claims,-.
in which it is my intention to claim all novelty 1 a ble in viewof the priorart. 1
What I claim as new by Letters Patent,is:
