UNITED STATES CHARLES n. STEVENS, or SAN DIEGO, cALIFoRNIA'.
NOZZLE HOLDER.
Application filed October 5, 1927. Serial N0. 224,240.
This invention relates to improvements in nozzle holders. I
The principal object of this invention is to produce a device which may be removably secured to a nozzle or other similar sprinkling device ordinarily held in the hand.
Another object is to produce a device of the character which will prevent the stream of water issuing from the nozzle from digging holes in the ground. I
A further object is toproduce a device which may be left upon the nozzle without interfering with the use of the same and further to provide a device which is light in weight and therefore one which is easily transported.
, A still'further object is to produce a device of the character whereby the nozzle maybe moved from place to place by twisting the hose so as to cause the holder to roll upon the ground.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent during the course of the following description.
ploying a simple nozzle holder preferably made of wire which may be attached to the nozzle. This holder essentially consists of a wire ring having two clamping fingers at tached thereto.
In the accompanying drawings wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred embodiment of my invention, the numeral 5 designates a band of wire bent in a In the accompanying drawings forming a.
toward the fingers which prevents them from spreading and therefore being accidentally removed from the nozzle.
- When a nozzle is positioned within my 'holder'as shown in Figure 2, the flow of water from the nozzle will be directed upwardly and the hose may be rolled upon the ground, if it is desired to change the direction of the spray from a distance as is often the case when one does not wish to get the feet wet, and further by using my device it will be readily seen that when the hose is dropped for the purpose of turning water oil at a. distant faucet, the nozzle will be mainvtained out of contact. with the ground andthe damage which often occurs will be prevented.
It will thus be seen that Ihaveproduced a device which will accomplish all ofthe objects above set forth. 7
It is to be understood that the formof my invention herewith shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example of the same and that various changes relative to the .material, size, shape and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claim.
Having thus described my invention, I claim In a device of the character described, a ring like member, cross pieces formed intogral with said ring like member, clamping fingers formed integral with said cross pieces, said fingers extending at right angles to said cross pieces and at right angles to the plane I of said ring like member, a slider positioned on said cross piece for the purpose of moving said fingers toward each other.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
CHARLES D. STEVENS.
