The invention relates to a closing device for tubes containing viscous substances.
The closing device relates to that kind of closures in which two discs, provided with eccentrically arranged openings, and a clos-. ing plate disposed between said discs, which is under spring action, are arranged and in which by turning one of the discs the discharge openings are set free.
The known closing devices of this kind, which are frequently employed with reset voirs having liquid contents, are not practical in connection with tubes contaimng viscous substances, since in the known constructions the individual parts of the closure do not fit tightly enough, or spaces are formed on account of their shape, into which the contents of the tube will enter, filling the said space, and the viscous substances will soon dry and entirely put the parts of the closure out of function. In the closing device according to the nvention all these drawbacks are overcome in that all parts of the closing device fit absolutely tight, avoiding any hollow spaces into which the contents of the tube can enter. The closing device comprises an upper closing plate of the tube, on which is rotatably mounted a covering disc or plate, with a major surface substantially completely in contact with the closing plate of the tube. The bent down edges of the covering disc engage the flanged part of the tube; and there is further provided a'closing member arranged within the recessed portion of the rotary disc, and tightly jforced against the upper plate of the tube by means of a spring. Both the top plate of the tube, the rotary disc and the closing member are fitting tightl to each other, preventing the contents of t e tube to enter between said parts and block them up. A second plate or disc' 9 is mounted tightly fitting upon the plate or disc 0, While the.
edge 9 of the disc 9 is bent down, engaging the edge or flange d of the tube in such a manner, that the disc 9 can be easily rotated on the plate 0 but it cannot be lifted from the latter. The bent down edge of the disc 9 can also be designed to engage a notch provided in the neck of the tube. The disc 9 too is provided with an opening h arranged eccentrically to its centre, which opening is flush or in alinement with that of disc 0 in the position of the disc 9 shown in Figure 1, admitting a passage for the contents of the tube. The disc 9 possesses a recessed part serving for the reception of a closing plate or slide is and a spring Z. By turning the disc 9 the opening it will be brought out of register with the opening 7' and in adsure of the tube.
For the purpose of limiting the rotary movement of the rotary disc g a pin m is mounted thereon, entering a slot 1;. provided inthe plate 0 as shown in Figures 2 and 3, being top views of the tube plate 0 and of the covering plateg respectively, namely in the position, in which the opening 7 of the plate 0 is covered by the closing plate is.

A closing device of the type described comprising-a tube member, a flanged top closing the tube member having an opening eccentrically located therein, a rotatable disc mounted tightly upon the flanged top with a major surface substantially completely in contact with the flanged top, said rotatable disc having an eccentrically located opening adapted to register with that in the flanged top, and a recessed portion in the rotatable disc, in combination with a closing plate with- ,in said recessed portion, and a spring also within said recessed portion pressing said closing plate against the outer surface ofsaid flanged top.
