DISPLAY DEVICE...
Application filed March 20, 1928. Serial No. 263,034.
r This invention relates to a display device for goods such as hats or the like and has for its object to provide such a device Wl110l1 1S attractive in appearance and one which w ll display the hats in the normal position 1n which they are worn with the goods so arranged that one of the hats will not overshadow another but will allow the light in which they are displayed to be effective upon them all.
A further object of the invention is to pro-- vide an inclined support receding as it rises a greater distance from the base with pegs or objects supports extending therefrom having head members arranged in substantially a horizontal position and with mirrors suitably mounted for handy use in the inclined receding wall.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists of certain novel features of construction, as will be more fully described, and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
In the accompanying drawings:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device.
Figure 2 is an end elevation.
Figure 3 is a section on line 3-3 of Figure 1.
Figure 4 is a similar section of Figure 3 showing a slightly modified mounting for the mirror.
It is found in the sale of certain goods such as hats and the like that an attractive display assists materially in the sale of such goods, and I have provided for such display purpose a construction having an inclined front wall with pegs or supports extending therefrom, such that all the objects or hats when mounted on the pegs may be fully eX- posed to view and yet each hat is positioned so that its appearance as worn may be observed. I have also mounted mirrors at suitable points in the front inclined wall for the assistance of a customer who may observe the hat upon his head before purchasing the same, and I have also provided a canopy in which lights are mounted at a point of advantage to illuminate the hats, and the fo1- lowing is a detailed description of the present embodiments of this invention showing one means by which these advantageous results may be accomplished.
With reference to the drawings 10 designates the base portion of the device having a ledge 11 disposed substantially in a horizontal position in which base drawers 12 may be positioned, if desired, for containing merchandise. Extending upwardly from the ledge 11 there is a front wall 13 which recedes toward the back wall 14 as its distance from the base 10 increases. Mirrors 15 may be set into the wall 13 as illustrated in Figures 1 or 3 or these mirrors may be built out as illustrated at 16 in Figure 4, the mirrors being positioned substantially parallel to the back wall'14 so that a person trying on any of the goods displayed may use the same to advantage. Pegs 17 are positioned symmetrically on the inclined front wall and arranged in rows all of which extend from the front wall at substantially right angles thereto and all are substantially of the same length to project an equal distance from the wall, and on the outer end of each of the pegs there is positioned a head member 18 which is arranged substantially horizontal or parallel to the ledge 11 in order that the hat or other object may be supported on the peg in the proper position.
In some cases in order to further enhance the appearance of the device, I mount a canopy or awning 19 at the top thereof to extend outwardly or forwardly from the back wall 14 a distance substantially the width of the base, and I use the forward edge 20 of this awning or canopy to support lights 21 to illuminate goods when positioned on the pegs for display purposes, which lights are concealed from view so as not to shine in the eyes of the observer.
The different component parts may be fastened together in any suitable manner and the outer surface of the device may be paneled or otherwise suitable decorated to enhance it general appearance.
The foregoing description is directed sole- ,ly towards the construction illustrated, but
I desire it to be understood that I reserve the privilege of resorting to all the machanical changes to which the device is susceptible, the invention being defined and limited only by the terms of the appended claims.
I claim 1. In a display device, a base, a front panel arranged on an incline receding as its distance from the base increases, object supporting pegs each extending from said front panel and head members on said pegs arranged at an angle to said pegs and substantially parallel with said base.
2. In a display device, a base, a front panel arranged on an incline receding as its distance from the base increases, a mirror mounted on said front panel perpendicular 5. to said base, and s aced objectsupporting members extending rom said front panel.
3. In a display device, a base, a front panel
