It is an object of this invention to provide a snap clasp which is made of a single piece of metal, has a part formed to receive a decorative design, and a part adapted to tend to hold the. parts of the clasp in the closed a position with respect to each other.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will appear from readingthe following description of an illustrative embodiment of the invention and from a study of the drawing showing the same; and the invention also consists in the combinations and arrangements of parts set forth in the appended claim.

In all the above described figures of the drawing like characters of reference are used throughout to indicate corresponding parts.

Referring now to Figures 1 to 3 of the drawing the reference character 1 indicates a flat body of metal which is oval in plan and has one end 2 which turns under the body 1 and then widens out to form the generally oval under-body 3 which lies parallel to said body 1. At its free end said under-body 3 has an offset portion 4 adapted to receive the corresponding end 5 of said body 1, which end 5 is curved-downward and then around in that direction, The oval h pe f body 1 and under-body 3 provides that the structure has suflicient strength for its'purpose and that the ends 2 and 5 are small enough for receiving connecting means such as the rings 7 and 8 on the strin of beads 9. The oval shape of said body 1 and also of under body 3 if desired) further provides a surface for receiving a decorative design 10 either in applique, enamel, engraving or-other form to conform with the decorative plan'of the whole jewelry article. It is to be understood that the body 1 is not limited to the oval form shown but can be diamond shaped or otherwise varied without departing from the objects and purposes of the invention to clasp structure for holding it in the closed relation.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patentis:

A jewelry clasp comprising, a substantially'flat oval shaped under-body having an inwardly ofi'set portion at one end, a fiat oval shaped main body having reduced end portions bent over in spaced relation to said main body, one of said end portions being formed; integ al, with. an end of said under body and acting to urge the offset portionof said under-body outwardlyagainst the other reduced end portion of said main body, said latter reduced end portion forming a stop for said underbody and lying Within the outer plane of said under body so as to. serve substantially as a continuation thereof and a tongue shaped spring struck inwardly from said under-body and pressing against the inner side of said main body, said spring acting to as- 1 sist in urging the offset portion of said underbody against said latter reduced end portion of said main body.
