SUPPORT FOR EVJELRY.
Application filed February 29; 1928, SeriaTNo. 258,036, and in Germany February 6, 1928.
The stands on which jewelry is displayed in show-windows are commonly made of material covered by perishable fabric which is easily affected by sunlight and dust, and must be renewed from time to time which entails considerable expense. 7 I I The object of the present invention is to provide a stand or support for displaying jewelry in show-windows in which the perishable part is reduced to a minimum.
To this end the support according to the present invention consists of a glass-plate,
provided with one or more narrow oblong openings, and a corresponding number of sheaths made of a yielding material which is covered with a suitable fabric for instance velvet. A piece of jewelry such as a ring, bracelet or the like, is inserted into each of these sheaths which are thereupon introduced into openings or slits in the said glass-plate. The sheaths thrust through the openings of the glass-plate on the one end display the jewels, whilst they support with the other end the glass-plate at an angle which'can be obviously varied by varying the-dimensions of the sheaths or the relation between the lengths of their two protruding ends. In the stands according to the present invention it sufiices to. renew from time to time the sheaths.
Two examples of a stand according to the invention are illustrated on the drawing. Fig. 1 shows the complete stand in a vertical exposure to sun-light dust and damp. Like-' wise the number and position of the openings is not limited. 1
I claim: i
1. A'display device for jewelry comprising a plate having a slot, and a sheath retained in sa1d slot extending beyond both sides of said plate, the'lower end serving as a support for said plate and the upper end-having an opening for receiving said jewelry, said sheath being shdably ad ustable in said slot.
2; A display device for ewelry comprising a plate having a slot, and a sheath frictional ly retained in sa1d slot extendingbeyond both sides of said plate, the lower end serving as a support for said plate and the upper end havmg an openlng for receiving said jewelry, sind sheath being slidably adjustable in said S on lj i In testimony whereofI atfix my signature.
