his invention relates to improvements in sa wmills, and more particularly to the system or means for operating the log turners and niggers.
5 One of the objects of the present invention is to provide an improved system of the character referred to wherein a single control lever is provided for operating both the log turners and niggiers, and wherein means are l provided for selectively connect-ing the control lever to the latter.

Other objects and advantages will herein after appear.

the usual operating valves to which are connected the stems 17 and 18, respectively, reciprocatory movement of the latter causing operation of the nigger valves to cause upward or downward movement of the pistons operating in cylinders 1() and 11. The construction just described is well known and has only been shown in sufficient detail to enable those skilled in the art to understand the manner in which the operating valves for the log turner and nigger cylinders are connected up in the improved operating system therefor.

An operatingV arm 26 is fixed on the other end of rod 19 so that upon rotary movement of this arm in opposite directions about the axis of rod 19 the valve for cylinder 13 is operated to cause inward or outward movement of the piston working therein.
For thel purpose of moving the operating:y valve 14 for cylinder 12, a section of pipe 2T is loosely mounted on rod 19 between the bearing Q0 and the l'fearing at the right end of rod 19, and an arm 28 fixed to one end of this pipe section and connected to the stein 29 for valve 14 through the rod 29' and the lever 30 pivotally supported at 31, an operatingy arm 32 being fixed to the other end of this pipe section whereby arm 32 is operable upon rotary movement thereof in either direction about the common axis of rod 19 and pipe section 27 to effect movement of the operatingr valve 14 in either direction, the loose fit between rod 19 and pipe section 27 permitting of independent rotary movement of these parts by means of their respective operating arms 2G and whereby the operating' valves for cylinders 12 and 13 are independently operable.
