This invention relates to improvements in weft replenishing mechanism of the multicolor type and more particularly to the give ways on which the bobbins are held as they await transfer. I
In the usual form of multi-color magazine the tip of the bobbin, when intransferring position, is supported by two yieldable supports while the head or butt of the bobbin is supported on the rear side bya yieldable giveway and on the front side by a fixed and immovable guideway usually formed as, an
, integral part of the frame of the replenishing mechanism. VVithsuch a construction breakages occasionally occur due to a bobbin being caughtunder the transferrer while it is still on the fixed support. It is to be understood that the bobbins are subject to slight variations and that the larger ones sometimes stick in the releasing devices so that they are slower in startingtoward transfer position. Under these conditions it is likely that as the transferrer descends it will strike the butt of the bobbin andbreak the I fixed guideway.
It isthe principal object of our present to a loom it is essentialthat the delivery point of the bobbins bear a very definite relation to the lay. In the'past the fixed guideway has been used for the purpose of setting the replenishingmechanism, a gauge being'provided to fit a portion of the guideway and thus position the replenishing mechanism with respect to the loom; Because of the use that is made of the giiideway in setting the loom parts, it is necessary that it shall always hear the same relation tothe lay. It is accordingly a further object of our invention to provide a givewayat this point which shall be incapable of adjustment and which will always return to the same position irrespective of adjustments in any of the other bobbin giveways. In carrying this feature of our invention into effect we-findzit desirable to make the spring which permits yielding movement of the giveway considerably stronger than the spring for the rear giveway-. Unless there is danger of breakage it is desirable that all the yielding for the butt of the bobbin be done by the rear support, the forward support serving as a guide to direct the bobbin into the shuttle.
VVit-h these and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, our invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and set forth in the claims.

. Referring to the drawings, it will be seen that we have provided a weft replenishing mechanism having inner and outer frameslO and -11,respectively, which are held together by tie rods 12. The outer frame 11 is provided with a pair of bobbin tip giveways 13 which are of substantially the same construction and each of which comprises a bobbin guide 14 hung on a pair of links or supports 15 and 16, respectively. The inner links15 have pivotal connection with the frame 11 as at 17 and the outer links 16 are pivotally mounted on certain ofthe tie rods 12. The lower end of each of the links 15 isprovided with a 'slot 18 which receives a bolt 19 by means ofhwhich the vertical position of the guide 13 may be varied. Each of the links 15 is also provided with an adjusting screw 20 positioned for engagement with some portion of the frame 11'to afford horizontal adjustin'ent of the guideways 13. Springs 21, which are secured to collars22 carried by certainof the tie rods 12, are connected to the links 16 and serve to move the guideways 13 toward bobbin supporting position.

In a weft replenishing loom, weft replenishing mechanism, a lay, a pair of yielding supports for the butt of the bobbin, a pair of yielding supports for the tip of the bob bin, relatively weak yielding means to hold one support for the butt of the bobbin in normal position, relatively strong yielding means to hold the other support for the butt of the bobbin in yielding position, said other support for the butt of the bobbin corresponding to the strong yielding means being held in normal position by a force greater than the force holding the first named support for the butt of the bobbin in normal position, said other support being yieldable under abnormal conditions only and remaining normally at rest and returnable always to the same position with respect to the re plenishing mechanism and the lay after a yielding movement. 7

In a weftreplenishing mechanism for looms, a pair of yielding supports for the butt of the bobbin, a pair of yielding supports for the tip of the bobbin, said supports being independent of one another but al ways returnable after yielding movement to the same position with respect to the replenishing mechanism, a yielding device connected to each support holding the support in normal position, one of the yielding devices for the corresponding support for the bobbin butt being relatively weak and the other yielding device for the other support for the bobbin but being relatively stronger than the first named yielding device, the said other device and corresponding bobbin butt support remaining substantially stationary for all normal operations of the loom and the first named support for the bobbin butt yielding.

In a weft replenishing mechanism for looms, a pair of spaced independently movable surfaces to engage the butt of a bobbin on opposite sides thereof, said surfaces being returnable to the same positions after each movement thereof, and a yielding means operatively connected to each surface, said means being of unequal strength and acting to hold the surfaces in normal position with different degrees of firmness, one of said means, acting with a greater force than the other means, so that the surface corresponding thereto will remain stationary while the other surface yields during the normal operation of the mechanism.
8, In a weft replenishing mechanism for looms a pair of yielding supports for opposite sides vof the same end of the bobbin always returnable after yielding movement to the same position with respect to the replenishing mechanism, a yielding device connected to each support holding the supports in normal position with different degrees of firmness, one of said yielding devices being weaker than the other and offering less resistance to movement of the corresponding support than is offered by the other yielding device whereby said other yielding device remains in substantially the same position for all normal operations of the mechanism.
