lApplicationl :filed July 6, 1.927 Serial No. 203,845fand in France October 21,1926.
My invention relatesto improvements in a device for pinning articles of adorninent to the clothing and y are, lirst, to :provide adevice of the character indicated in which the pin tongues are rotatable in a plane parallel to the article upon which the device is attached, second, to provio of Fig. 5;
vide means forreleasably locking thesaid pin tongues at' each 90 displacement there-V of,V and, third, to provide additional means Vfor locking said pin't-ongues at theirextremities when moved to closing position after having been inserted through' the material upon vwhich the device'is to beattache'd. I
Other objects of the invention will be obviousto those skilled in the art' to which the invention relates with reference to the following 'description whenS takenv in connection with the accompanying -drawing forming part of this specification and in which-f Fig.l l is a plan view whic'hthe device ismounted;
Fig. 2 is a front elevational view of Fig. 1,
showing my improved fastening means; Fig. 3 Vis a rear view ofFig. 1;'
Fig. 4 is a view similar to Fig. 3 showing the device in another position;
Fig. 5 is a section taken along the line 5-5 of Fig. 3;'
` Fig. 61s a section taken along the Vline 6-6 Fig. y'Tfs a rear view of my device provided with a modified form of fastening means;
Fig. 3 is a `front elevational View of Fig. 7 Fig. 9 is a plan view of -niy 'device applied lto anr articleof a'dorninent showing a 'modified form of fastening means; Fig. 10 is a section on the Fig. 9;
Fig. 11 is a' section onV the line -11-11. of Fig. 10; and 1 l Fig. y12 is a view looking from beneath in Fig.l 9. l
Referring to the drawing and more partie# line lO--lO of ularly to Figs.' l to 6, a'pair of pin tongues l e Y any articles of adornment conformable there-l is rigidly secured to a plate Q'by soldering or other .suitable expedient. The plate 2 is loosely mounted. on va stud screw 3 which extends clear throughy one end ofthe-watch cas-V ing3"and which is adapted to screw into the oppositewall of the said watch case 3a. The outer 1 are adapted to be lodgedin a groove 4 provided on the watch case 3.
I preferably provide the shaft 3 with'a the objects of the yinvention of a watch", upon' extremities of the said pin tongues 'a stud screw 3c.
square-sleeve loosely mounted thereon and fixed to the pla-te 2 as shown at 5 in Figs. 5 and 6. j Surrounding the said sleeve is preferably` an elongated slot 6 in which are disposed U-shaped springs `6 and 7 having intui'ned Vcurved extremities.v The slot 6 isV adapted to be closed by means of a plate 8 acting as bearing for vthe plate 2v and which is secured in position by means of screws 9 entering internally threaded collars 9a fir-,led in the bottom 3a of thesaid slot.
The pintongues l are adapted to bear against the top of the groove 4 with suiiicient 'friction to hold them in the desired position.
In's'ome cases` however, I may prefer to close one end of the groove 4 as shown at 8 (Figs. .7 and 8) and'provide the other Yend of the I said groove with a spring cat-ch Q forclosing vthe said other end.
Fromjthe foregoing it will be obvious that v'when it is desired" toattach the watch to the When the corners ofsaid sleeve slide over the springs't and 7 the turningl movement is retarded, that is; opposition is offered thereto. The turning movement takes place in two 90 stepsA 'which greatly facilitates attaching of the deviceto the clothing which may readily take place'withfonly one hand if necessary.
Once the pin tongues are in closing position soV in the groove47 the springs 6 and engaging the sides of sleeve 5 are suiicient to hold the said tongues from any ordinary displacing force and with the arrangement shown' in Figs. 7 and 8 displacement becomes prac tically impossible. A I
The device as beforestated isadaptable to retains the pinl tongues in closed position.
Astherein shown, a brooch l" is'provided at one end with a hollow collar`3l on whichy is supported in'precisely the saine manner as previously described a plateQb by'means of The said plate is provided Y io figures-ff Y 'L The other end of the brooch istprovided .With an upstanding'block vl0b 'provided vvith 'thej usual groove 4"` closed` at one'end as shovvnfat 8b, Y Longitudinally'o'f Ythe groove is vvith the usual .pin itongues 1 and thefslee've and` spring arrangement is" disposed; Within the collarh in precisely the saine Way as pre;l
