Description
UNITED STATES PATENT QOFFIGE,
WILLIAM H. PEARSON, OF LOWELL, MASSACHUSETTS.
IMPROVEMENT IN COW-MILKER S.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 170,187, dated November 23, 1875; application filed June 17, 1874.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. PEARSON, of Lowell in the county of Middlesex and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Oow-Milkers, of
which the following is a specification:
, nion milk-can or other similar vessel, said stopper being provided also with an elastic exhausttube, connecting the interior of the milkcan with'a bellows, which is operated by a hand-lever, the whole being supported by an upright standard secured to a proper base or frame, upon which the can is to be placed, and is secured thereon by means of an adjustable clamp, which may be released and the can removed whenfilled, and emptied, or another one substituted in its place, the elasticity of the stopple permitting it to fit in varying sizes of can-necks. v
Figure 1 is aperspective view of my invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical central section of the same.
A represents a milk-can of ordinary construction, into the neck of which is tightly fitted a rubber stopple, B, provided with four holes. Into these holes are connected the elastic rubber tubes 0 c c 0, their opposite ends being provided with silver tubes 61 d d d, which have small holes near their outer ends, their ends being closed and slightly tapering, and rounded over, so as to be inserted in the teats easily; E is an elastic tube inserted in the stopper, its opposite end connecting with the bellows G, which is secured to the upright standard H, and provided with valves to and b. To the top of this standard is hinged a hand-lever, J, which operates the bellows by means of the short lever K, pivoted at one end to the lever J, and the opposite end to the movable side of the bellows G.
Up and down motion being given to the hand-leverJ, the bellows is opened and closed, which exhausts the air from the interior of the can. 7
The tubes (1 d d d having been inserted into the ends of the teats of the cow, by simply moving the handle J up and down the milk is drawn from the cow into the can with great ease and facility,
When the'clamp P is released, the can may be removed.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is- The combination of the tubes d d d d, elastic rubber tubes 0 c c c, and elastic tube E with the elastic'stopper B, bellows Gr, standard H,
levers J and K, and can A, all being con-i structed and arranged to operate substantially in the manner described, as and for the purposes set forth.
WILLIAM H. PEARSON. Witnesses:
SYLV'ENUS WALKER, W. D. LAMB.
