UNITED STATES ROBERT A. NEAIQVOF CAPE GIRARDEAU, MISSOURI.
SUSPENDIER LOOP.
Application filed July 12,
This invention relates to a suspender loop and has relation more particularly to a de vice of this kind particularly desi ned and adapted "for use in connection with a suspender for overalls, and it is an object of the invention to provide a device 01 this kind which may be readily engaged or detached with respect to the overall, thus permitting the suspender to be removed when it is desired to laundry the overall.
It is also an object of the invention to provide a loop of this kind which provides a yielding attachment with the overall or other garment with which it is connected, thus increasing comfort in use and prolonging the life of the garment and suspender.
The invention consists in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement oi the'several parts of my improved suspender loop whereby certain important advantages are attained and the device rendered simpler, less expensive and otherwise more convenient and advantageous for use, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
The novel features of my invention will hereinafter be definitely claimed.
lln order that my invention may be the better understood, I will now proceed to describe, the same with reference to the accompanying drawing, wherein Figure 1 is an elevational view of a suspender loop constructed in accordance with an embodiment of my invention and in ap plied position;
Figure 2 is an enlarged elevational view of the loop as herein disclosed unapplied.
As disclosed in the accompanying drawing, my improved loop comprises a single strand of material of requisite gauge and rigidity, said strand being provided with the central bar a having its extremities continued by the inwardly disposed and outwardly diverging arms I), the outer extremities of the arms Z) being continued by the parallel arms 0 spaced one from the other, said arms 0 being substantially at right angles to the bar a. The outer extremities of the arms 0 are returned to provide hook members (I.
Surrounding the arms 0 is an expansible spring 1, the convolutions of the spring bridging at opposite sides the space between the arms 0. One end portion of the spring e11- gages within the hook members d.
1927. Serial No. 205,176.
A suspender strap 2 is operatively engaged in a well known manner with the bar a while a button 3 or kindred member properly positioned upon an overall or other garment is engaged between the arms 0 and contacting with the adjacent end portion of the spring 1. By this means, the loop has a yieldable en gagemcnt with the garment, thus materially increasing comfort and wear and materially pi-olongingthe life of the garment and susponder. i
In applying the loop, the button is readily insertible within the space defined by the bar a and arms 7) and as illustrated in Figure 2 otthe drawings the inner portions of the arms 07 are inwardly offset to provide shoulders for ccaction with the button 3 or kindred member to prevent the same entering the opening defined by the bars a and Z).
From the ii'oregoing description it is. thought to be obvious that a snspcnder loop constructed in accordance with my invention is particuhirly well adapted for use by re: oi the convenience and facility with which it may be assembled and operated, and it will also be obvious that my invention issuscepth his off some change and modification without departing from the principles and spirit thereof and for this reason I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself to the precise arrangement and formation of the several parts herein'shown in carrying out my invention in practice except as hereinafter claimed.
I claim A Suspender loop comprising a bar, inwardly disposedand outwardly diverging arms carried by the; bar and continued by parallel arms substantially at right angles to the bar, and between which a button is adapted to be operatively engaged, the inner portions oi the arms having inwardly disposed shoulders for coaction with the button engaged between the parallel arms, and an expansible member surrounding the parallel arms, the button engaged between the parallel arms being positioned between the shoulders and the expansible member.
In testimony whereof hereunto affix my signature.
ROBERT A. NEAL.
