IMPROVEMENT IN PORTABLE SKIDS.

My invention relates to improvements in portable skids, for the purpose of loading and unloading articles of merchandise to and from wagons, wharves, warehouses, 850.; and consists, in combination with the ordinary frame and its braces, of a number of rolls freely movable around their centers in hearings in the frame, which rolls project a little above the upper side of the frame, but do not project as low asthe lower part of the frame, by which I am able to load and unload boxes and similar articles of merchandise with great ease, and with very little friction, by drawing them up or down on that side of the skid having the rollers projecting above the frame. By reversing the skid Ican use it for the purpose of loading and unloading barrels, or similar convex articles, in the usual manner, without interfering with the rollers.
In one end of each of-the frame-timbers is placed a T-shaped bolt, for the purpose of attaching the skid temporarily to the rail of the wagon, 860., to or from which the goods are to be moved. The object ofsaid T-shaped bolts is tosecure the skid in position with either side upward, for the purpose of moving flat and convex articles of merchandise.
