if the rotatable induction member is caused to turn on fixed pivots, and on the other hand, one of the said magnets is caused to swing and thereby tobring the gearing into engagement. Such a modification ofthe original arrangement forms the object of the present invention.
A form of the invention, in which the braking magnet is rotatable, is illustrated in the accompanying drawing in two views perpendicular to each other in Figs. 1 and 2.
1 is the electromagnet provided with a short-circuited auxiliary coil shading coil) 2, under the influence of which the induction disc 3 is kept in rotation in the direction of the arrow (Fig. 1). The speed is limited by a braking magnet 4, which thus normally exerts a torque on the disc equal to that exerted by the electromagnet (not counting the unimportant friction forces) and within normal limits substantially proportional to the speed and to the operating current. When the latter exceeds a certain value, the force acting between the disc and braking magnet will beso great as to overcome the tension of a spring 5 acting on the latter and to rotate the magnet which rests on a pair of pivots 6, until it is checked by a stop 7. The magnet carries a bearing 8 for a helical gear segment 9, which is caused to partake in the swinging'movement and then comes into engagement with a screw 1O on the shaft 12 of the disc 3, said shaft rotating in fixed bearings 11. I claim as my invention:
1. In inverse time limit relays, an electromagnet, a braking magnet, an operating device kept in rotation about a stationary axis under the influence of induction forces from said electromagnet and braking forces from said braking magnet, one of said magnets being capable of a swinging movement under the reaction force from said operating device.
2. In inverse time limit relays, an electro magnet, a movable braking magnet, an operating device kept in rotation about a stationary axis under the influence of induction forces from said electromagnet and braking forces from said braking magnet, the latter being capable of a swinging movement under the reaction force from said operating device.
In inverse time limit relays, an electromagnet, a braking magnet, an operating device kept in rotation about a stationary axis under the influence of induction forces from said electromagnet and brakingforces from said braking magnet, and a releasing mechanism carried by one of said magnets and capable of being engaged by said operating device by rocking said magnet.
4. In inverse time limit relays, an electromagnet, an operating device kept in rotation about a stationary axis by induction from said electromagnet, a braking magnet capable of being swung around an axis, and a releasing mechanism carried by said braking magnet and capable of being engaged by said operative device by rocking said magnet.
