This invention relates to blanks for telegrams received for delivery, envelopes in which the telegrams or messages are delivered to the addressees, and delivery sheets on, which records of the sages are kept.
The invention has for one of its objects toreduce to the minimum the time and work I involved in typewriti-ng and otherwise pre-r paring the messages for delivery to theaddressees, and to attain this end I provide a combined telegram blank, envelope and delivery sheet, the same consisting of a Single sheet of paper on which the message and the name and address of the person to whom it is to be delivered may be readily handwritten or typewritten and which may be readily folded to conceal the message and expose the name and address.
A .further object of the invention is the provision of an article of the character stated wherein the delivery sheet, which is to be signed by the person receiving the telegram, can be readily detached without unsealing andvunfolding that portion of the article on which the message is typewritten.-
The invention is hereinafter fully described and claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is a plan view of a combined telegram blank, envelope and delivery sheet embodying my invention.
Figure 2 is a similar View looking at the opposite side of the article.
' Figure 3 is a plan view of the article after portions thereof have been removed preparatory to folding and sealing the same,
Figure 4 is a plan view of the partly folded article, i Figure is a plan view of the completely folded article, Figure 6 is a plan view of the folded article after the removal therefrom of the delivery sheet,
Figure 7 is a sectional View taken on the plane indicated-by the line 77 of Figure 5, Figure 8 is a similar View taken on the plane indicated by the line 88 of Figure 5, and I I Figure 9 is a plan view of the article after removing therefrom the delivery sheet and breaking away the sealing flap. Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description, and
designated in the several views of the accomdelivery of the mesr FFICEf panying drawings, by similar referencecharacters. i I I The article consists of a single sheet'of paper, the portion 1 of which constitutes the telegram blank, 7 the portion 2' the delivery sheet, the portion 3 thesealing flap for the folded article, and the portions 4 and 5" forms employed for the purpose of keeping records of efforts made to effect the delivery. of undelivered messages, The telegram blank 1 and delivery sheet 2 are arranged one above the other and separated by a weakened or tear, line 6. 'Thesealing flap 3 extends from a lateral edge of the telegram blank 1 and is located adjacent the upper edge thereof. These parts are integral and not separated by a weakened or tear line. The portion 4;.is connected to the telegram blank 1 and sealing flap 3 and isfseparated from these parts by weakened or tear lines 8 and 9. The portion 5 is connected'to the delivery sheet 2 and sealing flap 3, and is separated from these parts by weakened or tear lines 10 and 11.
The portions 4 and 5 are used only in the event that it is found impossible to deliver I the message, and as suggested in Figure 2 contain the usual printed matter and blank spaces. The delivery sheet is employed to preserve a-record of the delivery. of the mes sage and contains as suggested in Figure 2 the usual printed matter and blank spaces.
