. This invention relates to stocking frames. The principal objectof the present invention is the production of a stocking frame characterized by improved features by virtue of Which the stocking frame Will be more usefull than those hitherto produced'. In accordance'with this object of the invention the stocking frame will be constructed to permit stockings of different kinds, especially Womens silk stockings to be conveniently dried after being washed; which may be 'dyed with the proper results; which may be displayed to show imperfections, if any; and which may be mended when necessary.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a stocking frame of the indicated character which is adjustable to accommodate stockings of different sizes, and one which will also maintain the stockings in the 2o proper shape when it is arranged on the( frame after it has been washed. In accordance with this object of the invention the stocking frame is provided with means for releasably maintaining the foot and leg portions of the frame in different adjusted positions together with aclamping means for clamping the top of the stocking to preventthe same from slipping` down on the frame, and also provide means for suspending the frame with the stocking 3o thereon from some suitable support.

y Referring now more particularly to Fig. 1`rof the drawing, it will be apparent that in the illustrated embodiment, the 'stocking frame of the present invention will consist 5 of two sections, a section 10 and a section 11. The section 10 is bent and formed prefy to provide a- Able gage to provide a foot portion '12 and a' leg portion 13. The member 14 of the leg portion 13 is bent'substantially at a right angle to provide an extension 15 having a loop 16 at the end thereof. The member 17 of theleg sectiony is bent substantially at a right angle .to provide an extension 18 which is looped at 19 and has a hook 20. The extension 18 is waved or crinkled as at 21. The extension extends 'through the loop 19, whereas the extension 18 extends through the loop 16, and byvirtue of the inherent flexibility of the extensions 15 and 18 coaction willbe set up' between the loop 16 and the corrugations of `the crinkledl portion 21 to releasably maintain the members 14 and 17 of the leg section 13 in any desired relationship with respect tol each other to conform to the shapes and sizes of differentv stockings. The section 11v of the stocking frame. in the present instance is bent and vformed from a single member 22 and members 23 respectively at opposite ends of the member 22. Each of the members 23 has a loop 24. The extension 15 extends through the loop 24 of one of the members 23, whereas, the extension 18 extends through the loop 24 of the other member 23. The section 11 is thus pivotally or hingedly connected to the section 10 and is therefore adapted to be moved with respect thereto. The hook and the member'22 with a portion of which the hook 2O coacts, constitutes a clamping means for clamping the top of a stocking to hold the stocking from sliding down on the frame, as shown most clearly in Fig. 2. The hook 20 also serves for suspending the frame in its entiretyfrom a suitable support such as a clothesline. It is to be notedthat when the leg portion 13 is extended, as shown in Fig. 1 that the hook 2O and member 22 nevertheless serve as a clamping means for the purpose mentioned.` The section 11 also serves as a means which may be grapsed in one' hand to conveniently hold the frame for displayingl a stocking arranged thereon when inspectingl the stocking for imperfections, and makes easy the arrangement of a stocking on the frame when held in one hand, while the'stocking is slid .on the frame with the other hand. Furthermore when the sec'- tion 11 is disposed at an angle with respect to the section 10, as shown in Fig. 4, the section l0 may be disposed in an inclined dispiece of wire of suitable gage play position.
