WATER SPOUT HOLDER.

Application filed February 19, 1927. Serial No. 169,638.

My invention relates to railroad water tanks in which the water supply for locomotives is stored and has for its object to pro .vide a new and eflicient water spout holder.

further object is to provide an eiiicient' spout holder for railroad tanks which will be efficient to handle and economical to build and easily installed.

A still further object is to provide a new water spout support and holder which will keep the water spout of a water tank always in position so that the fireman on the locomotive can have easy access to the spout at all times and at no time will the spout swing around to the side by the force of wind or other elements but will always be in place and will eliminate the hazard to the fireman of reaching for the spout and falling from the tender while so doing.

These objects I accomplish with the device illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which similar numerals and letters of reference indicate like parts throughout the several views and as described in the specification forming a part of this application and pointed out in the appended claim. 6

In the drawings in which I have shown the best and most preferred manner of building my invention Figure 1 is a side View of a water tank with my device thereon holding the water spout from side movement when not being used. Figure 2 is a side view of the device and Figure 3 is plan view of the device.

In the drawings I have shown the water supply tank as A, the upright support as B, the cross beam as Q, and the water spout as I). The usual chains, cables and pulleys which are on all water tank spouts are used to support the spout while filling the tanks on a locomotive engine and tender. Upon the upright support B I secure an angled bracket member 1 by the bolts 2 and the said bracket member 1 is formed of a flat metal bar bent at an acute angle as at 3, with the extreme end of the angle 3 as shown at 8 made flat and bent at right angles to the upper bracket 1, and to which a spout retaining member is secured. Footmembers l bent up at each end of the said bracket member 1 and bolts 2 are passed through suitable leg of the and 5 are holes therethrough, securing the said bracket to the upright support l3. Side braces 6 and 7 are secured on the cross beam C and have a slight bend or oilset 8 near one end thereof to make them on the same plane as the base leg 1" of the bracket member 1. Holes 9 are bored in theleg l and a bolt 10 passed therethrough secures the free ends of the said braces 6 and 7 thereto and the additional holes 9 are for adjustment of the said braces on different tanks and for diiierent sized spouts. Having thus described my invention I desire to secure by LettersPatent and claim:

In a water spout hold-er for use on railroad water tanks the combination of a three sided angled bracket adapted to be secured to said tank; and with adjustment holes in the bottom leg thereof; side braces having one end adapted to be secured to said tank and the other end secured to said angled braclnat; a bolt to secure both of said side braces to said angled bracket by engagement through said holes; a semicircular spout retaining member secured to the middle leg of said bracket; and sections oi? hose cut and placed over 52bit retaining member to protect the spout from side movement when held therein.
