Patented Dec. 18, 1,928.
JOHN DRAGGIE, 0F PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA.
TOOTI-IPICK HOLDER.
Application tiled August 9, 1926.
This invention relates to improvements in holders for tooth picks, an object being to provide a holder from which tooth picks will be singly dispensed and the remaining tooth picks kopt in a sanitary manner.
Another' object of the invention is the provision of a holder for this purpose which Iis simple in construction, attractive in appearance and may be cheaply manufactured.
`lith the above and other objects in view, the invention further includes the follow- `ing novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described7 illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the appended claim.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a perspective view of a tooth pick holder constructed in accordance with the invention with the holder in position ?or dispensing a tooth pick.
Figure 2 is a central longitudinal sectional view of the holder.
Figure 3 is a similar View showing a slightly dilferent form of holder.
Referring in detail to the drawings, wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the holder comprises a container 10, the bottom of which is preferably weighted as indicated at 11 so as to provide stability. The top of the container l() is open and is provided with a cap or closure 12. The cap` or closure 12 is removably secured to the container by any suitable means, the means shown comprising a r, threaded connect-,ion indicated at 13.
The cap or closure 12 is provided with a j tapered end 14 having a restricted discharge opening 15 of a size to permit of the free passage of a single tooth pick.
In Figures 1 and 2 of the drawings, the cap 12 is shown as substantially conical throughout its length, while in Figure 3 the cap 12 is dome-shaped and has extending centrally therefrom a tapered end 16 which is provided with a restricted discharge open- Seral N0. 128,210.
ing 17 for the passage of a single tooth pick. In both forms of the invention, when the holder is tilted as illustrated in Figure 1 of the drawings,
the tooth pickswill' fall toward the discharge opening', the centermost :i
tooth pick being projected Vthrough the opening. Due to the length of the taper of the cap 12 shown in Figures 1 and 2 of the drawings, the movement of the tooth picks toward the opening 14 will be gradually or successively arrested, the innermost tooth picks travelling the greatest distance, so that danger of the tooth picks jamming at the discharge opening will be avoided.`
By shaping the cap 12 as illustrated Figure 3 of the drawings, the cap may be of a lesser height, as the tooth picks are not as compactly hunched when the holder is tilted.
The invention is susceptible of various changes in its form, proportions and minor details of construction and the right is herein reserved to make such changes as properly fall within the scope of the appended claim.
Having described the invention what is claimed is A tooth pick Vholder comprising a container open at its upper end, a weight member reposiiig upon the 4bottom of the con- Vrection of the extension toprevent picks from jamming.
ture.
In testimony whereot the tooth I aix my signa- JOHN DRAGGIE.
