A. W. LOVEJOY IIQILE'I PAPER HOLDER Filed March 18, 1924 Patented Dec. 18, 1928.
UNITED STATES ARTHUR w. LOVEJO'Y, or LOWELL, MASSACHUSETTS.
TOILET-PAPER HOLDER.
Application filed March 18, 1924. Serial No. 700,017.
This invention relates to boxesadapted to be produced from paper board or like stock, of a character adapted to be also utilized for holding the contents of t e be); in a manner so that such contents may be readily accessible for use as required. While having other and more general fields of usefulness, the invention is particularl adapted and designed for holding packs of toilet tissue paper, being;- adapter to serve as a protective co er for the tissue pack and being ecially designed to hold the tissue pack in a manner so as to be easily accessible for use as re quired, and without invoh r the use of any metal hooks or other separate or special holding means for the p cl In accordance with my invention, my i proved box is produced of ordinary paper board or'the like, with a convertible flap that is adapted to be opened up to render the tissue accessible, and folded upon itself in a manner so as to present a strong and reinforced area from which the bonmay depend, and which is adapted to be huno' securely on a nail or like support during the period of withdrawal of the tissue for use. The foregoing and other objects and advantages of the invent-ion will more fully appear from the following detailed description taken in connection with the acco nying drawings, and the distinctive fea. ircs of novelty will pointed out in the appended claim.
' eferring to the drawings:
1 is a front view of the box embodythe invention with the cover thereof ver the top of the ti sue pack;
is a transverse section on line 2-2 7 0 1s a front view showing the box opened up for use;
Fi z 1 i a transverse section on line ll of .LhB box 10 may be mace of usual paper or cardboard stock with relatively wide front pack, as shown by Figure 4.
The boxincludes a convertible flap com prising an, inner panel 12, flexibly joined at to one end of the rear wall, andfornoed 10 cover the open moutlnand an outer panel i" flexibly joined 13 to the inner panel and provided with a tab 17, at its outer edge. Said outer pan l and tab are formed to be tucked between the front wall of the box and the enclosed pack, as shown by Figures 1 and 2, to maintain the convertible flap in its month closing position. The flap is foldablc .t 13, to locate the panels 12 and 18 side by side, in alinement with the back wall of the box, and enable the flap to vertically suspend the box on a support, with the upper end of the pack exposed for the removal of sheets therefrom. Said panels are provided with orifices'15 and 16, which register with each other, shown by Figure 4-, when the flap is folded, and are adapted to receive a supporting device, such as a hook or nail on-a vertical wall. The back wall of the box is pro vided with a slot 18, arranged to receive the tab 17, and confine the outer panel 13 against the inner panel 12, as shown by Figures 3 and 4: to prevent obstruction of the mouth of the box by the outer panel.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: p s p A. toilet paper holder comprising a box of tube type having a closure flap consisting of a panel hinged to the back, a second panel hinged to the first said panel, each panel havinga hole therein, which holes are in mating relation when the panels are foldedagainst each other, a slot being formed in the hinge line between the back and the'first said panel of the closure flap, and a tab on the said second panel and insertible in said slot when the panels are folded against each other, whereby said folded panels will constitute a means for suspending the holder.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
ARTHUR W. LOVEJOY.
