PATENT orr cnv HERMAN QU'AST, OF ARLINGTON, MINNESOTA.
FINGER RING.
Application filed June 10,
This invention relates to jewelry and par: ticularly to finger rings.
A general object of the invention is to provide a finger ring that can be adjusted to fit various sized fingers and the adjustment means is entirely concealed from View, with the result, the adjustable feature will in no way mar the beauty of the ring.
A further object of the invention is to provide an adjustable finger ring that is simple in construction, and is inexpensive to manufacture.
This invention also consists in certain other features .of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing my invention in detail, refer ence will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which:
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a ring constructed in accordance with my invention.
Figure 2 an edge elevation th reof.
Figure 3 is a sectional View taken on line 33 of Figure 2.
Figure 4 is a sectional view taken on line 4: 4: of Figure 3. 7
Referring to the drawings in detail, reference numeral 1 indicates the shank of the ring which of course is curved upon itself in ring formation and terminates in threadcr end portions 2. The mounting which in the present instance is shown as being of the gypsy basket type, is indicated by the reference numeral 8 and includes the usual depending hollow arm 4 within which are secured spaced parallel apertured ears 5, adapted to receive the threaded end portions 2 of the shank l in the manner as best shown in Figure 3 of the drawings. Disposed between each set of cars 5 and threadedlyreceiving the threaded end portions 2 of the shank 1 is a nut 6 which is mounted for rotation and it will be obvious that upon rotating the nut 6 the diameter of the shank will be varied as the threaded end portions will be caused to travel toward or away from the mounting 3, it depending of course upon which way the nut is rotated.
The nut is of substantially disk formation th c 1927. Serial No. 197,904.
and is provided in its periphery with semicircular recesses 7 so that a pin maybe in serted through openings 8 formed in the sides of the mounting for engagement in said recesses for rotating the nuts as vill be apparent. v IVhile I have shown a gypsy baskettype mounting, it will be obvious that other types of mountings may be used without departing from the spirit of the invention.
From the abovedescription and cisclosure of the drawings, it will be obvious that the ring may be readily adjusted to fit various sized fingers by merely inserting a pin or other like element through openings 8 formed in the sides ofthe mounting and rotating the nuts as above set forth, and by this novel construction. the rin ma be a) lied to the a y l finger and adjusted thereon.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to he understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appendedclaims.
What I claim is:
1. A ring of the character described com prising a shank disposed in ring formation and having threaded ends, a mounting formed with openings in its sides, ears arranged in pairs and disposed upon opposite sides of said mounting adjacent said openings, a'nut mounted between each pair of cars and being adapted to receive the threaded ends ofsaid shank and said nuts being provided with recessesin their periphery to receive an implement passed through the :side openings to rotate said nuts for adjusting the shank with respect to said mounting.
2. A ring of the character described com- ,prising a curved shank having threaded ends, a mounting, ears formed with said mounting and being disposed in pairs on the opposite inner sides thereof, nuts receiving the threaded ends of said shank whereby the diameter thereof can be varied and said nuts being arranged between the ears of each pair for engagement therewith.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
HERMAN QUAsT.
