'llhis invention relates to new anduseful improvements in bottle holders and has for its principal object the provision of such a holder adapted primarily for use in the handling of bottlet k and the like. 7

Another important-object of the present invention is the provision of such aholder arranged to be secured to a house or like place and which will greatly aid and facilitate the convenient and sanitary handling of bottled milk. 2

Another object of the present invention is the provision of such a holder having asso ciated therewith new and novel means for indicating the amountof mill: or cream that is v desired.

A further object of'thc invention is to provide a bottle holder of the nature stated which while extremely simple in its construction, is nevertheless strong, sturdy, and durable, chezup to manufacture and well designed for the purposes forwhich it is intended. ll iththese and numerous other objects in view as will become more readily apparent r during the course of the following descriptlon. the invention resides in the novel conv struction, combination and arrangement of parts to be more fully hereinafter described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and particularly pointed out in the appended claim. l

Reference now being had to the accompanying drawin 's and more particularly to is a sectional view on line 4-4 of I Figures 1 to 4 inclusive, it will be noted that in carrying the present invention into practice, there is provided a substantially rectangular wire frame designatedas a whole by the letter A and comprising in its construction the upper rectangular section 10 having the front and rear bars 11 and 12 and the end bars 13. Positioned beneath the section 10 is a similar rectangular section 14, said sections being connected; together at each of their four corners by means of the/ vertical connecting bars 15.

Arranged within the upper I rectangular section 10 are the threerings 16, 17 and 18 formed froniheavy wirejor the like, each of said rings being secured to thefront and rear bars 11 and 12 by means of the diametrically opposed. connecting portions l9-and 20, the two outer or end rings 16 and 18 beingsecured to theend bars 13 bylmeans of the connecting portions 21 and 22 while theintermediate or middle ring 17 is secured to theouter rings 16 and 18 by means of the connecting portions 23 and 24. i

Arranged within the lower, rectangular section 14 directly beneath the upper rings 16,

17 and 18 are the wire rings 25, 26, and 27 and diameter than the said rings 16, 17 and 18 so that when the bottles are inserted through the upper rings, they will rest upon the lower rings and thus be firmly held within the holder. v

- Each of the rings 25, 26 and27 are secured to the front and rear bars 28 and 29 of the section 14 by means of the connecting portions 30 and 31, while the outer or end rlngs 25 and 27 are secured to theend bars of the section 14by means of the connecting portions 32 and 33 and the intermediate or middle 2 ring 26 is secured to the outer rings 25 and a 27 by means of the connecting portions 34 i and 35. c y a Positioned at the front of the holder and]. secured to and extending between the corner bars 15, asclearly shown in Figure 1, is a substantially wide plate 36'having applied thereto a'plurality of graduations or numbers 37 which, let us assume, indicate quarts of milk, cream or the like. The said plate 36 is provided adjacent its lower edgeand beneaththe numerals 37 with a longitudinally extending slot 38 and held within the slot 38 and adapted. for sliding movementalong the plate 36 is the pointer 39. I

Secured to the rear face of the said pointer 39 is a small substantially vertical rod 40, said rod being bent at its opposite ends to provide the inwardly directed shoulders 41 and 42 which engage the opposite sides of the said slot 38. The shoulder 41 is provided with the laterally extending spring arm 43 which engages the rear surfaces ofv the said plate 36 for the purpose of retaining the 7 port.

The rear bar 12 ot the upper rectangular section 10 is provided with the e g elets 45 through the medium of which the holder may be attached to a house or any suitable sup- In the application of the holder, it will be apparent from the above that a the same has been secured to a suitable support, that the bottles of milk or the like may be inserted therein through the upper rings 16 17 and 18 that they will rest upon the somewhat smaller lower rings 25, 26 and 27. By simply grasping the handle or finger piece 44;, the pointer 89 can be moved along the plate 38 to re ister with any one of the numerals according tothe number of quarts of milk or the like that may be desired. It will thus always be readily apparent to the party delivering the milk justwhat quantity is desired and it more or less milk is wanted itis only necessar i to move the pointer until it registers with the nun'ieral indicating the proper amount. 7

Referring now more particularly to the modification of the invention disclosed in Figures?) and 6 of the drawings, there is I shown a holder including the upper d lower rectangular sections 46 and at? having frontand rear and end bars similar to the sections 10 and 11. ot' the preferred form described hereinabove and being connected together in i the same manner. In this form, there are carried by the end bars of the lower sections 47, the longitudinally extending parallel bars 48 and 49 connected by the three pairs of transverse bars 50 and 51 upon which the bottles are adapted to rest. Secured to and extending between the front and rear bars'oi" the upper section 46 are the transverse bars 52 and 53 and it will be noted that these bars are positioned between the bars 5150 whereby to provide somewhat larger openings in the upper section through which the bottles may be inserted.

Arranged on the front of the holder is a plate 54: provided with a dia... and pivotally mounted in the center oi said dial as at 5i are the pointers 55 and 56. tihe dial is pro vided with suitable gradnations 5? divided into two sections to indicate respectively quarts of milk and CIGQEHZ, this arrangement being clearly shown in Figure 5. lVhile there has oeen described hereinabove and illustrated in the accompanying drawings two ways in which the present invention may be carried into practice, it will be understood that it is also susceptible of other modifications and that such modi cations 'as properly fall within the scope oi the appended claim may be resorted to without departing from or exceeding the spirit of the invention.

What is claimed as new is 1*- An indicating device for milk botti ers comprising longitudinally ext J graduated plate provided with a loin: nally extending slot, a rod slidable within s slot and a pointer carried bythe said rod forwardly of said plate, said rod being provided at one end with a spring arm engagf ing the rear surface of the saie plate for re taining the pointer in position while the other end thereof is proi-ided with a linger piece for facilitating the movement of the pointer along the said plate.
