SMOKERS LAMP.

Application filed March 10, 1927. Serial No. 174,148.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in smokers lamps and its ob ject is to provide a device for containing cigars and cigarettes, combined with means for lighting the same and receiving ashes therefrom, all contained in a structure in the form of an ornamental lamp, together with illuminating means which enhance the use fulness and appearance of the device.

I will describe my invention in the following specification in which the foregoing and others of its objects will appear and will set forth the novel features thereof in appended claims.

The structure comprises a base having three rectangular portions 10, 11 and 12, in each of which is a slidable container drawer. The one in the lower base portion 10, which is designated by 13 in the drawing, is pulled out. This is arranged to contain cigars 14, as shown, and is provided with a humidor 15 for moistening the cigars.

The drawer 16 is proportioned and arranged to contain cigarettes and the upper drawer 17 may be used for ashes, but according to the form in which I prefer to make the device this upper drawer 17 contains a plurality of nested ash trays (not shown), as such trays are more cleanly and convenient.

The upper part of the base is in the form of a pedestal 18 in which is a wire connector 19, in this case in the form of a socket.

Above the pedestal is a hollow body 20 and a tubular standard 21. 22 is a wire reel affixed to the standard 21 at 23 and actuated by a spring at 24.

The standard 21 extends up through the hollow body and an ornamental cap 25 therefor sockets for one or more electric lamps 27, two being shown in the drawing, but obviously any desired convenient number may be used. These lamp sockets project from the head 26 which forms the upper part of the standard 21 at a desired angle. Wires 28 pass from the connector 19 up through the standard 21 and its head 26 to the lamp sockets. Other wires 29 extend from the connector 19 into the hollow body 20 and are connected to the reel 22.

This head supports the cigar lighter 32. 33 is a flexible wire conmeeting the cigar lighter with the reel 22 and arranged to be wound up automatically on the reel by the spring at 24. The spring is adapted to draw the lighter 31 up against the upper end of the tube 30 to hold the lighter 32 at an angle similar to that at which the lamps 27 are held.

The usefulness of this device is obvious and 66 great care has been expended in proportioning and designing its parts to give it an ornamental and attractive appearance. Its use is obvious. Cigars, cigarettes and ash receivers are all held in a convenient and readily ac- 70 cessible manner. The lamps not only illumi nate the parts of the device itself but are useful to light the roomin which the device is used. A lamp shade 34 of appropriate and suitable shape and design is supported on the head 26 to which it is aflixed by an ornamental threaded nut 35 and this surrounds the lamp and the lighter. When it is desired to use the lighter it can be pulled down into the position shown in dotted lines at 32 and moved into convenient position for use.

Although one specific embodiment of the invention has been particularly illustrated and described, it will be understood that the invention is capable of modification, especiallg as to design and appearance, and that c anges in the construction and in the arrangement of the various cooperating parts may be made without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention, as expressed in the following claims.

' What I claim is:

1. A smokers lamp comprising a rectangular base with receptacle drawers therein, a wire connector, a hollow body on said base, a wire reel therein, a standard rising from said body, a lamp supported by said standard and projecting therefrom at an angle, a cigar lighter, a tube on the standard having a bend at its upper portion and arranged to support the lighter at an angle similar to that of the lamp, wires connecting said connector, reel and lamp, and a flexible wire running through said tube connecting the reel and the lighter.

A smokers lamp comprising a base having a plurality of stepped rectangular portions with a receptacle drawer in each of said portions, a wire connector, a hollow body on said base, a wire reel therein, a standard rising from said body, lamps supported by-said standard and projecting therefrom at'like angles, a cigar lighter between the lamps, a tube on the standard havin a bend at its upper portion and arranged to support the lighter at an angle similar to that of the lamps, wires connecting said connector, reel and lamps, and a flexible wire running through said tube connecting the reel and the lighter.

A smokers lamp com rising a base having a plurality of steppe rectangular portions with a receptacle drawer in each of said portions, a cigar moistener in one of the drawers, a wire connector, a hollow body on said base, a wire reel therein, a standard rising from said body, lamps supported by said standard and projecting therefrom at like angles, a cigar lighter between the lamps, a tube'on the standard having a,bend at its upper portion and arranged to support the lighter at an angle similar to that of the lamps, wires 'connectingsaid connector, reel and lamps, and a flexible wire running through said tube connecting the reel and the lighter, a spring for actuating the reel arranged to hold the li hter at the desired angle against the bend of tie tube, and a shade supported on the standard over the lamps and the lighter.

4. A smokers lamp comprising a rectangular base with receptacle drawers therein, a wire connector, an enclosing hollow body on said base, a wire reel therein, a lamp socket above said body and supported thereon, a cigar lighter supported by said body, a flexibfe wire connecting the reel and the lighter, a spring arranged to rotate the reel to draw said flexible wire into the structure, and wires inside of the structure interconnectin the wire connector, the flexible wire and the amp socket.
