l STOPPER FOR BOTTLES.
Appcation led October 28, 1926*, Serial No. 144,722, and in France March G, 1926.
My invention relates to stoppers of bottles and has for its object the arresting of the Stoppers for bottles.V Y e Reference is to he had to the accompanying drawing in whichi Figures .1 and 2 show a stopper with a spring` as an arresting device, and the head of the stopper rests on a seat.
Figure 3 shows a stopper similar to the construction of Figures 1 andv2, butl a conical surface of the circumference closes the. opening of the bottle.
Figures l and 5 show a stopper similar to the construction of Figures 1 and 2 `but besides of a spring therev is an elastic Vring as an arresting device.
Figure 6 shows a stopper, which is equipped with only an elastic ring as arresting device.
According to Figure 1 the top'of the bottle is equipped with a seat 7, on Which the head 8 of a stopper rests. `The stopper consists of a cylindrical part and a round head of solid material, which cannot be damaged by acid and which does not transmit the heat. The
r stopper carries a bushing v10 with threads for the bolt 2. The latter is connected to the lever 1 by' the pin 19. The spring 16 and the washer 21, which ismade from material, which does not transmit the heat, are placed around thelbolt 2. y
According to Figure 1 the stopper 12 1s placed into the opening of the bottle and the lever 1 has the position shown in Figure 1. As soon as the lever is brought into the position shown in Figure 2, the washer 21 is presseddownward and the spring 16 is pressed against the wall of the bottle, whereby the stopper 12 is arrested in its position. Figure 3 shows the same construction only the uppei part at ofthe bottle does not show the seat 7. The opening of the bottle is equipped with a conical seat 5.' The Y circumference ofthe stopper 13 is formed with a conical surface 6, corresponding to the conical seat 5, that the conical surface 6 can sit on the seat 5; The bushing 11 carries threadsand is driven into the stopper 13.V As soon as the surface 6 is pressed into the seat 5, the lever 1 is pushed downward and the spring 16 is pressed against the wall of the bottle by the Washer 21 and therefore the stopper 13 with its head 9 is kept in its position. According to Figures 4L and 5 the stopper 14E carriesthe head 15. The springS, the washer 21 and the elastic pressed against .the wall of the bottle by the on spring. Y
Figure 6 shows a construction without spring 18, where the elastic ring 17 is eX- panded and is pressed alone against the wall of the bottle for arresting the stopper 22 in 65 its position. Y The stoppe-r is placed into the opening of the bottle with only a little play. In case a bottle with acid will be placed horizontally the stopper 22 must be made from into the opening of the bottle With very little play, that no acid or only a little bit can reach the elastic ring 17, which otherwise would get materiah which cannot be damaged by acid. At the same time the stopper must he placed destroyed. The cylindrical part of the stopper should fill out the space of the opening of the bottle, so that no liquid, acid etc. may reach the elastic ring 17. If acid reaches the elastic ring 17 the latter will be destroyed. The
position of the stopper is fixed by the elastic ring 17, which is pressed aga-inst the wall of the bottle by the washer 23, which exerts a pressure on top of the ring 17 by the lever 1. By the pressure on top, the ring eX- pands and is pressed against the wall of' 85 the bottle. 1f the wall of the elastic ring 17 is very small it might happen, that, pressing the washing 23 down by the lever 1, the wall of the elastic ring bends inside and does not rest against the wall of t-he bottle.
Therefore it is necessary, that the pin 2 fits very tightly into the hole of the washer 23 so that the air, which will be compressed as soon as the washer 23 will be pressed down,
presses the wall of the elastic ring 17 tightly 95 against the wall'of the bottle. The stopper 22 with the arresting device can be used for bottles with openings shown in Figures 1 and 4, this means, for valve seats and cylindrical opening.
As the stopper consists of a cylindrical part and a round head, made of solid material, the round head of the stopper can be used for bottles with a seat in the top of the bottle. At the same time the stopper can be used for bottles, filled with acid, with a cylindrical hollow part on the top. If the bottle is filled with acid and placed horizontally the cylindrical part of the stopper prevents the acid from injuring the elastical part et the arrester. Therefore the Stepper can be used for any kind o bottles and'any kind of liquids.
l claim:
l. Stopper made trenr-inatenal not transmit-timo)- the heat, the stopper litted With a cylindrical part and a round head, a pin, fixed into the head of the stopper, a. washer, litting tightly around the pin, vinade trentinaterial not transmitting` the heat,an elastic ring around the pin, an air tight Chamber between elastic ring, washer and Stepper, a level' on top 'of the pin, pressingthe Washer down, whereby the elastic expanding ringl is pressed against the Wall 'of the bottle by the Colnpressed air and the stopper is arrested in the bottle.
2. Stepper inade from material not transmitting the heat, the stepper 'fitted with a exvlindrical 'part and a rennd head, a pin, lined int-0 the head of the stopper, a Washer, fitting tightly around the pin, made from material, not traneinit-ting the heat, an elastic ring" and a spring around the pin, an air tight chamber between elast-ie ring, Washer and stopper, a lever en top of the pin, pressing the Washer down, whereby the elaetie @wending ring;l vis pressed againet the Wall olf the bottle by the compressed air and the spring, which at the Sametime presses the rennd Vhead O'f the Stepper down 0n iteI :seat
