The invention relates to asuspension device for wall charts, maps andthe like and more specifically to suspension devices of this description constructed as hollow rollers.

Whereas heretofore vthe chart, map or Vthe like was rolled up and down through a slit in thev hollow roller by means of a winding device provided'at the end of the roller,the present invention' consists in the upper 'rod i0 of the chart being composed of two folding parts which, when closed, form the roller.

AThe invention further consists in the suspension string or other device being connected to the folding parts of the upper rod of the chart, etc. in svuchbmanner that the weightof the chart by .hanging causes an automatic closing of the folding parts. Hereby the chart can be secured at the top between the folding parts and at the bottom to the rollingL up rod which,l when the chart is rolled up or partially unrolled, can be lodgedin the hollovs7 roller.l

In the event of the hanging device in accordance with the invention being used 5 for exhibiting consecutive single maps orV charts, the latter are divided by intermediate rods which canbe introduced into the folding roller when single charts orrmaps or parts thereof are exhibited.

The arrangement shown in Figs. 1 to 7 may be adapted for exhibiting one or two oirlca.Il f

maps or charts, whereby one is pasted to the 1 back'of the other.

The case, which at the same time replaces the upper holding banconsists of two fold# ing parts of card-board, tin or the like,joint ed together, of which the semi-cylindrical case i ais adapted4 to receive the chart' Z),`whereby the cover c, which is likewise semi-cylindrical, closes the case a when the kchart isput away or hung up. 1 1, 1

The locking device d visible at bothends is actuated directly by pulling thev string e and in such manner that the cover c and the case a close tightly together, thus forming a cylindrical' case or holding mea-ns' cb'-c. lVhen the chart is rolled up, the string e can be wound around-the case by means keeper f and secured elastically to the button g. As a result of the'cooperationy of d and c thisquick closing effects a secure locking of the case a-c in its entire length.

On the other hand in hanging up the chart, the case closes automaticallyby its own weight hanging on the string. For this reason it makes the neat/impression of a one-piece bar. The'point of suspension ofthe chart is relieved by meansxof a viceaction of the case parts a and c clamping the chart betweenthem. The device is accordingly Very simple to manipulate: yThe case, lclosed in 1 by means of string e, is opened by pulling the keeper f and lifting the string-,e `from the button g, as well as by winding up the string (Fig 2). The lower shell is removed together with the chart in Fig.A 3.,-and the case @-0 automatically-closed in Fig. e'by hanging up the entireoutfit. On again unrolling thechart the case yopens automatical-` ly, as soon as the device is finally taken down from its hanger and allowed to hang both ends not only serve here as guides for down. r)The unrolling and closing is then eifected in the reverse order of that above described for opening according to Figs. 3, 2 and 1. Y

The above described suspension and protective device can, nevertheless, be used for a large number of charts or maps exhibited in promiscuous order 'to the audience in succession and from the saine position. In this manner nigs. this'description, Nos. lto 1,. in an order in which the maps or charts on the same side as 1 and 2 or 3 and 4t appear opposite each other, whereas Figs. 12 to .lo show an arrangement of simple maps or charts one below the other.

I claim:

1. A suspension device tor wall charts, maps and the like comprising two independent holding elements, one of said elements comprisingtwo tolding parts forming when closed a hollow cylinder.
