UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.

ADVERTISING DEVICE.
Application filed September'21, 1926. Serial No, 138.833. 4
unconsumed fuel, oils, etc. fromthe article,
into which the gases are exhausted so that there will be no danger of liquid matter being blown from the advertising article and falling upon passers-by. I
Vi ith the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed may be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the accompanying drawings the preferred form of theinvention has been shown.
In said drawings,
Figure 1 1s a side elevation of a portion of a motor vehicle having the present improvements combined therewith.
Figure 2 is a rear elevation thereof. Figure 3 is a section through the casing. Referring to the figures by characters of reference 1 designates almotor vehicle which can be provided with any suitable type of delivery body 2. At any preferred point on this body is mounted a large representation of the article being advertised. 'In the present instance there has been shown the representation of a cigar, the same being indicated at 3. This cigar is formed of a hollow casing properly shaped, the rear end thereof being formed with a vent opening 4 which can be partly closed with wire netting 5 if so desired. Opening into the rear portion of this casing is a pipe 6 leading from the muffler 7 into which gases are exhausted from the engine of the vehicle. A drain pipe 8 extends downwardly from the lowest portion of the casing to a point below the body 2.
In '1) notice the exhaust gases from the engine of the vehicle are directed into the casing 3 and will issue from the opening 4 so as to give the article the appearance of a smoking cigar. Any unconsumed fuel or oils carried to the casing S with the exhausting gases will not be expelled from the casing with the gases but will condense and flow downwardly through the vent pipe 8 to the street. Consequently the vehicle will be kept free of stains from oils, etc. which might otherwise be delivered through the open end 4 and all danger of spattering pedestrainswith particles of oil is likewise eliminated.
What is claimed is The combination with a motor propelled vehicle including a body, of a hollow casing mounted on the body simulating an article being advertised, said casing having an outlet opening from which the bottom portion of the casin is inclined downwardly, a screen extending acrossthe outlet opening, means for directing exhaust gasesto the casing from the engine of the vehicle, and a drain pipe extending from the lowest portion of said casing downwardly to a point below the body of the vehicle for delivering accumulated oil and the like onto the ground.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto affixed my signature.
