TES PATENT or FICIE? MOP wnrnenn.
plication filed February 7, 1928 Serial No. 252,481.
The present invention relates to a mop wringer and has for its prime object to provide av structure that may be conveniently held in one hand while the mop is pulled through the same with the other hand.
A turther very important object of the invention resides in the provision of a mop wringer of this nature which is exceedingly simple in its construction, strong and durable, inexpensive to manufacture, thoroughly efficient and reliable in use, and otherwise well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed. e
lVith the above and numerous other objects in view as, will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the drawing: i V
Figure 1 is an elevation of the preferred embodiment of the mop wringer,
Figure 2 is another elevation thereof taken at right angles to that shown in Figure 1,
Figure 3 is an elevation of another embodimeut ot the invention, and
Figure 4 is an elevation of the embodiment shown inFigure 3 taken at right angles to that shown in Figure 3.
Referring to the drawings particularly Figures 1 and 2 it. will be seen that letter L denotes generally substantially L-shaped members each of which comprises arms 5 and 6 disposed'atsubstantial right angles to each other, the arms 5 being curved intermediate their ends as clearly illustrated in Figure 2. r Arms '5 are pivoted together intermediate their ends bysuitable pivot means 7. Yokes 8 are pivoted intermediate their ends'to the extremities of the arms 6 as at 9 and the 6X-' tremities of the yokes have journaled' there-.
between wringer elements in the form of rollers 10. On the extremities of the arms I 5 there are fixed handles 11. In thisembodi ment of the invention it will be seen that" the jokes are free to swivel in relation to the members 11. The members L may be pivoted to spread the rollers 10 apart so that the mop may be placed therein and then pivoted to squeeze the mop by the rollers coming together. Obviously thehandles 11 may be gripped. in one hand andthe mop pulled between the rollers with the other hand. It will also be seen that thismay be done-over in detail andv a bucket or the like in avery convenient manneizv -Referring1 now particularly to Figures '3 and 4 it will be seen that the embodiment herein illustrated includes a pair of substantially L-shaped members L each of which comprises an arm 5 and .an arm 6. Arms 5 are curved intermediate their ends simi lar to arms 5 and are pivoted together in a similar manner as at 7 and have handles 11 on their GXtIQIllltlGSf The arms 6 are substantially larger than arm 6 and are pro-V videdwith laterally extending cars. 14 between which are rotatably mounted mop engaging elements in the form ofrollers 10.
The operation of this en'ibodiment of the of the first embodiment described except that the rollers are provided with axes rigid in respect to the arms 6'. V o
It. is thought that the construction, op-
invention is practically identical with that eration, utility and advantages of this 1n- 4 vention will now be clearly understood by those skilled in this art withoutamore detai ed description thereof. It will be seen that the'structure is simple,
may be made strong and durable, at a low cost,
and is easy to manipulate and thoroughly eflicient and reliable in use.
The present embodiments of the invention have been disclosed in detail merely for the purpose of exemplification since in actual practice they attain the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of the invention and the above description.
' It will be apparent that changes in the details of construction, in the size, and in the combinationand arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its ad'- vantages.
Having thus describedmy invention, what I claim as new is:
1. In a mop wringer of the class described, a pair, of substantially L-shaped members each including a pair of arms angularly dis-' posed with respect to each other, means pivotingthe intermediate portions o-ftwo of the arms together, the other two arms extending away from the plane of movement of the first mentioned two arms in the same direction with respec't to each other, and mop T wringing elements two arms. i v 2. In a mop wringer of the class described,
on the second mentioned with respect to each other, a pair ofmop e11- gaging rollers, and means for journalling the 10 rollers on said second mentioned two arms.
3. In a mop wringer of the class described, a pair of substantially L-shaped members each including a pair of arms angularly disposed with respect to each other, means pivotlng the lntermediate portlons of two of the arms, together, the other two arms extending away' frointhe plane of movement of the first mentioned two arms in the same direction with respect to each other, a pair of yokes pivoted intermediate their ends to the second mentioned two arms, and rollers jonrnaled in the yOkes.
' In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
