IMPROVEMENT IN FLASKS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. l69,055, dated October 19, 1875; application led April 15, 1875.

To all whom it may concern Beit known that I, WESLEY H. STEOUP, of Philadelphia, county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented an Improved Book-Bottle.

The following description, taken in connection with the accompanying plate of drawings hereinafter referred to, forms a full and exact specication, wherein are set forth the nature and principles of the invent-ion, by which the same may be distinguished from others of a similar class, together with such parts thereof as are claimed as new and are desired to be secured by Letters Patent of the United States.

My invention relates to that class of bottles commonly known as pocket-flasks; and the nature thereof consists in certain improvements in the construction of the same, hereinafter shown and described, whereby the following advantages are secured: First, it can be placed in the side pocket with the glass part to the breast, and the pasteboard cover with which it is provided on the outside, in such a manner as to furnish a protection for the bottle and prevent itfrom becoming broken. Second, leaves are bound Within the covers or casing of the flask, for the purpose of writing directions, Svc., thereby preventing the said directions from becoming lost, as is often the case when they are wrapped around the bottle in the ordinary way. Third, the peculiar form of the flask, and method of writing directions thereon, so vdistinguishes it as to prevent it from being mistaken.

In the accompanying plate of drawings, in which corresponding parts are designated by similar1 letters, Figure 1 designates a liask or bottle molded in the form of a book. Fig. 2

designates the bottle complete provided with covers and leaves.

The bottle c is molded in the form clearly shown in the Fig. l-that is to say, having one side and the back of the book forming a part thereof and solid therewith. The cover b is constructed of pasteboard, and secured to the part c by means of a strip of muslin pasted thereon. The cover b and part a are then really boundin morocco or paper in such amanner as to represent a book. The leaves c,
