METHOD OF PREPARING TANNIG-ACID COMPOSITIONS.
Drawing.
My invention relates to a, medical compound and method of making the same.
The object of myinvention is to provide a medical compound for internal use by in- 5 jection and one that is especially adapted to be used in the treatment of gonorrhea, gleet and their complications.
The ingredients of the compound are tannic acid, zinc oxide, glycerin and Water and the m preparation may be made in two strengths increasing or decreasing the amount of tannic acid and zinc oxide used.
A full strength compound consists of:
'lannic acid r.. 2 drams Zinc oxide 2 drains Glycerin 2fluid ounces Distilled water 5 6/16 fluid ounces 6 A medium strength compound is composed Tannic acid 2 drams Zinc oxide 2 drams -Glycerin 2 fluid ounces 2 Distilled water 5 fluid ounces The preferred method of making the medical compound is as follows:
. Tannic acid and zinc oxide are thoroughly ground and mixed to other by stirring for a time. Glycerin is then 7 considerable length 0 added and the same stirred until the ingredients are thoroughly mixed; a small portion of distilled water is then added and the whole I mass given two or three stirs in the same direction and the mass allowed to stand unt l- The hardened mass thus formed is it sets. redissolved in distilled water to produce a compound by volume of approximately Application filed February 4, 1926. Serial No. 86,061.
I add 2 fluid ounces of glycerin and the Whole i mass is stirred thoroughly. I then add 1 8/16 fluid ounces of distilled water and. give the mass two or three stirs in the same direction. The mass is then let stand until it sets and after it has set, it is redissolved in substantially 3 and 14/16 fluid ounces of distilled water, which produces a'compound by volume of approximately 8 ounces. In carrying out the method to produce the medium strength, ounce of tannic acid is mixed with ounce of zinc oxide by thoroughly grinding and stirring the two to- I gether and to this mixture 2 fluid ounces of glycerin is added and the whole mass stirred thoroughly. I then add 1% fluid ounces of 05 distilled water and stir the same two or three timesin one direction only and the mass thus formed is allowed to stand until it sets or hardens. After-the mass has hardened, it is redissolved in 5 fluid ounces of distilled 7 water, which produces a compound'by volume of approximately 8 ounces.
The medicine is used as an urethral injection from two to four times a day, using it four timesa day at the start and gradually 7 cutting the injection to two as the gonorrhea gets better. It can be injected with any ordinary urethral syringe bythe patient himself or can be injected by the doctor.
The dosage will vary according to the size 39 of the urethra. Enough is injected to fill the urethra until the patient can just feel the solution entering the bladder and this as a rule takes from two to three drams.
While I have described a method of producing a medical compound for the treatment of certain diseases, it is, of course, understood that the same can be used for treating kindred diseases and that the proportions can be varied without departing from 'thespirit of 9 my invention.
What I claim is 1. The method herein described of making a medical compound from tannic acid, zinc oxide, glycerin and distilled water, which 9 consists in grinding and mixing together tannic acid and zinc oxide, then mixing glycerin with the compound produced, then addagain thoroughly stirring the ingredients then adding distilled Water and slightly stir ring the water into the mass and allowing the mass to harden and then redissolving the hardened mass in distilled water.
In testimony whereof I hereunto allix my signature.
RUSSELL S. FATE ihUN.
