To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, THEOPHILUS BILLING- TON, of Weatherford, Parker county, Texas, have in vented a new and Improved Beef-Steak Masher, of which the following is a specification:
My invention consists of a couple of studded or pointed rollers mounted in'a stand one above another, to mash the steak by rolling it between them, the upper roll being mounted in bearing-arms pivoted to the stand far enough to one side of the rolls-to swing up and down for adjusting the steak and for different thicknesses, and to pass the bones through, and a couple of earnlevers being combined with the bearing-arms, so that the operator can apply what pressure is required to the upper roll, and can vary it as may be needed, and allow the roll to rise and fall as the thicknessof the steak varies.
Figure 1 is a front elevation of my improved beef-steak masher, and Fig. 2 is a side elevation.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A and B represent the studded or pointed rollers, mounted on the stand 0, for rolling the steak between them. They are geared together by wheels D, and one has a crank, E,
for turning them. The upper roll is mounted in the bearing-arms F, which are pivoted at G, so as to allow the roll to rise and fall, and to swing up to take out the roll when required.
The journals of the roll are held in the bearings by springs H, which allow it to, be put in and taken out readily, and the lower roll-bearings are at the bottom of slots I in the stand, allowing it to be taken out readily for cleaning. J represents the cam-lever for giving the pressure to the upper rolls by bearing on the I THEOPHILUS B ILLINGTON.
