MERCHANDISE sorron'r.
Application filed February 1, 19557. Serial No. 165,176.
This invention relates to merchandise supports for store windows and has for its object the provision of a removable support of this nature consisting of aplurality of interlitting parts capable of being arranged in different wa to vary the form of support, suitable provision being made for retaining he parts of a selected assembly in position without the use of nails or other similar fastoning devices.
Other objects, advantages and characteristic features of the invention will be more readily understood from the following de tailed description and accompanying drawings, in which,
Figure l. a perspective view of one form of the invention as it will appear when positioned. in a store window;
Figure 2 is a view, in front elevation, of the form of invention illustrated in Figure 1;
Fgure 3 is a vertical, transverse sectional view taken along the line 33 of Figure 2;
Figure 4 is a transverse sectional view taken along the line tl of Figure 2;
Figure 5 is a top plan view of the supporting base for the article carrying platform;
Figure 6 is a transverse sectional view showing a modified arrangement in which the article supporting platform is arranged at an inclination;
Figure 7 is a sectional. View taken along the line 77 of Figure 6;
Figure 8 is a transverse sectional view taken through the rear upright wall of the support and showing one of the end walls in side elevation;
Figure 9 is a plan view showing a further modification, and V Figure 10 is a transverse sectional view taken along the line 1010 of Figure '9.
Proceeding now to a more detailed discussion of the drawings, 5 designates a rectangular base frame open at the center and provided at the upper edge with a continuous groove 6 having the front portion 6 thereof registering with an underlying slot 7 formed in the frontframe member. integrally connected rear and end walls 8 and 9 are removably supported in upright position upon the frame 5 with the lower edges of said walls seated in the groove 6. The central opening of the frame is closed by a removable article supporting platform 10 which may be arranged to lie flat upon the frame as shown in Figure 1 or may be disposed in a vertically inclined position as shown in Figure 6. In
the latter instance, the lower edge of the inclined platform abuts a retaining strip 11 which is inserted in slot 7 and, provided with terminal supporting shoulders 12 resting on the complementary shoulders 13 of the frame.
In the modification shown in Figure 10 the rear wall 8 and end walls 9 are omitted and the article supporting platform arranged to rest squarely on the base frame 5.
In practice the base frame 5 is arranged on the floor of a store with the front frame member disposed close to the window glass. The upright walls 8 and 9 and the platform 10 may be arranged as shown in Figures 1 or 6 or the platform may be arranged to lie horizontally upon the frame and the up right walls omitted as shownin Figure 10. When-the upright walls andplatform are arranged as shown in Figure 6 the'retaining strip 11 may be raised and the dirt and other refuse accumulating on the platform swept downwardly through the slot 7 and on to the floor of the store.
Having thus fully described what I now conceive to be the'preferred embodiment of my invention it will be understood that I reserve the right to resort to all changes in the construction and arrangement of parts that come within the scope and spirit of the appended claims.
What I claim is:
1. A merchandise holder comprising a base frame, a rear wall detachably mounted in upright. position onsaid frame, a removable platform adapted to rest flatly on the base frame or to be arranged at an inclination thereon with the upper edge of the platform resting against the rear wall and a retaining strip e'ngageable with the base frame to provide a supporting abutment for the lower edge of the platform when the latter is disposed at an inclination. v
2. A. merchandise support comprising a base frame provided with a channel extending along the upper surface of the plane at the rear edge thereof, a wall detachably mounted in upright position on the frame with the lower edge of the wall resting in said channel', a platform adapted to rest flatly on the base frame or to be arranged thereon at an inclination with the upper edge of the plat.- form resting against said upright wall, and means carried by the base frame to engage and sustain the lower edge of the platform when the latter is arranged at an inclination on the base frame.
3. A merchandise support comprising a base frame, integrally connected rear and end walls removably supported in upright position upon said frame and a platform adapted to rest flatly on the base frame within the confines of said walls or to be arranged at an angle with the upper edge of the platform engaging the rear wall and the lower edge of the platform resting upon the base frame and a retaining strip carried b the base frame and engageable with the ower edge of the platform when the latter is arranged in an inclined position.
4. A merchandise support comprisin a base frame, rear and end walls removzibly supported in upright position upon said frame with the lower edges of the walls received in channels formed in the upper surface of the frame, a platform adapted to rest flatly on the frame or to be disposed in an inclined position thereon, with the upper edge of the platform resting against the rear wall and the lower edge of the platform resting on the forward portion of the base frame and means carriedby the forward portion of the base frame and engageable with the lower edge of the platform when the latter is arranged in an inclined position.
r 5. A merchandise support comprising a base frame, an upright rear wall mounted thereon a platform adapted to rest flatly on V with the lower edge of the latforln when the latter is arranged in an inc ined position. i
6. A merchandise support comprising a base frame, interconnected rear and end walls arranged in an upright position on said frame with the lower edges of said walls removably inserted in channels formed in the upper surface of the frame, a retaining strip inserted in a slot formed in the front portion of the frame, and a removable platform sup ported within said walls in a position of inclination with the upper edge of the platform engaging the rear wall at a point above the base and the lower edge of the platform resting on the base and abutting said retaining strip.
In testimony whereof I hereunto afiix my signature.
CICERO LA HATTE.
