UNITED STATE-s PATENT ABRAHAM mmsnne, 0F CHICAGO, ILLINOIS,
VENDING MACHINE.
Application led August 26, 1926. Serial No. 131,691.
lar places, where sugar is dipped from a common container.
Still another object is to avoid waste which is very common in connection with the use of the ordinary sugar bowl or other dispensing devices.
Still other objects will be Vdescribed in the specification and drawings.
` Referring to the drawings:
Figure 1 is a perspective ot' `a machine.
proper.
Figure 2 is a vertical section showing dispensing apparatus.
Figure t3 is a section ofthe dispensing apparatus removed from the machine proper, and
the
paratus shown in Figure 3. l
In the drawings like parts are designated by similar numerals.
Numeral 1 designates a vending machine proper with glass panels 2, legsupports 2l,
6 separates the interior yof the machine into compartments 7. Inthe floor 8 oi the respective compartments are ports shown at 9, a plunger 10 having a shield plate 11 with downturned end flanges mounted thereon and an open-endedreceptacle 12, lixedly attached to the plunger 1() beneath anopening in Vthe shield platek 11. The' inner end of plunger 10Sis slidably supported by bracket 13 and between the bracket 13 andthe inner flange ot' the shield 11" is a coil spring 1-'1 mounted on the `plunger 10. Pielow s and ,spaced troni lthe floorot the compartments i 7 is a second floor 15V in which are portsl and 17 in front and in rear of port 9. VGonnecting with port 16 is a chute 18l which empj ties in turn into a .chiite 4 connecting with i port 17.v f f `Asactually" used, the compartments 7 will be filled with sugar or like material, the sugar `will filter thru port 9 into receptacle 12, A person desiring sugar will push'in on plunger Figure 4 is a bottoni perspective of the ap-f Y the preterred torni, it is to be understood 10,y which in turn will compress the spring 14 and at the Sametime move receptacle 12 over port 17. Then the containerreaclies this point `the sugar in thecontainei' will seeking the sugar will obtain the pre-deter# mined amount. Upon the release of plunger 10 the spring 14 which has been compressed, will torce the container back into its initia position directly below port 9 and at the same time will force any sugar which may have .filtered thru port 9 through the port 16 and into chiite 18 and in tiirn to chute 4 so that none ot' the sugar is lost or will collect between the floors 8 and 15.
Then the plunger 10 ispushed forward or inwardlyand the receptacle moved from beneath the port 9, the shield 11 will move forward and close the port- 9 and thus cut oli the flow ot'rsingar.` The same operation is repeated when sugar is desired from the other compartment. l
lIt is to be understood that this machine may be used 'for other articles than sugar, and `while I have described my invention in that various n'ioditications may be made wit-hkempty into chute L1 trom which the person in the limits oi" description aiidthat the parts may be varied in proportion and arrange;- nient as sh ll be determined the following claim.
` l I-Iaving thus 'described my invention, what I claim is:
A sheet ii'ietal dispensing machine coinprising a container having a bottom provided -with a discharge opening, a floor arranged `ister with` the iiist named opening and one of the second named openings only, yielding 4means tor holding saidv plunger with its'casby thescope of ing normally in registry with the first named i opening, the rear edge ot said casing contacting with said door daring movement of the plunger to normal position to scrape excess materialirom said floor into the other ot said dispensing openings.
In testimony whereof I atix my signature.
ABRAHAM MILBERG.
