This invention relates to vanity cases, and has for an object to; provide an improved construction particularly involving a holding ring and hinge, wherein the parts are 5 so formed that the hinge is connected with the holding ring.

Another object of theinvention is'to provide a vanity case,wherein the lid is hingedly connected with theholding ring there- '1 of through a pintle structure integral with the ring or independent thereof.

In the accompanying drawing- Figure 1 is a longitudinal vertical sectional view through a vanity case,disclosing case, and 2 the-lid. The body 1 is provided with an ofiset portion 3 whereby an annular shoulder 4 is presented. It will be understood that the body 1 and lid 2 are formed of sheet metal which is comparatively thin, andis, therefore, more or less resilient. The shoulder 4 is, of course, very small, and is somewhat exaggerated in the drawing, but. issufficiently pronounced to act as an abutment for the horizontally disposed ring section 5 of the compact plate holder 6. The ring section 5 merges into an annular band 7 and these twomembers or sections form the compact plate holder for holding the plate 8 in the vanity case. It will be noted that the holder is substantially L-shaped in cross section and is provided with a plurality of pressed out portions, projections or nibs 9, Wl'llCh "overlap certain parts of the plate 8 whereby the plate is held in position. If desired, the plate 8 could be made with straight walls instead of a projecting annular portion at the bottom, and the nibs orprojections could merely press against the side walls or slightly overlap the top as circumstances might require.

In this way the structure acts not only to hold the compact plate in position, but as an ejector therefor. Also, by forming the hinge in this mannerit ma'y be completely formed outside ofthe' body 1 and mounted as shownin the drawing. Heretofore, most hinges have been-formed by bending the same partly and then inserting the bent portion into the body, and

In Figures 4 and 5, a slightly modified structure is disclosed, wherein the same kind of a vanity case is provided, but a different form of holding ring 14. This holding ring is preferably a band divided at one point and formed with

4. A vanity case, comprising a body, a said body formed substantially L-shaped in cross section, a yoke extending upwardly from the upper part of said holder at one point, said yoke is'posi'tio'ned, a cover for said body formed with a curled extension presenting a hinge knuckle, said knuckle extendin through said oke, and a pintle' extendin through said muckle and overlapping said yoke whereby a complete hinge is resented and the cover is hingedly connccte with the conipactplat holder while partly telescoping over said body. 1
